신명기 5:1-6:25

 모세는 십계명에 대한 회고로 두번째 설교를 시작했다. 하나님을 사랑하고 경외하는 일은 한 세대에서 그칠 일이 아니기 때문에, 모세는 자녀들에 대한 율법 교육을 강조하면서, 그들이 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 풍요로운 땅에 거할 때 더욱 하나님께 순종하는 삶을 살 것을 권면했다.
  
  십계명(5:1-5:33)    
 
  1. And Moses called all Israel, and said unto them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your ears this day, that ye may learn them, and keep, and do them.
  2. The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.
  3. The LORD made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day.
  4. The LORD talked with you face to face in the mount out of the midst of the fire,
  5. (I stood between the LORD and you at that time, to shew you the word of the LORD: for ye were afraid by reason of the fire, and went not up into the mount;) saying,
  1. 모세가 온 이스라엘을 불러모으고 그들에게 말하였다. "이스라엘 자손 여러분, 내가 오늘 당신들에게 말하는 규례와 법도를 귀담아 듣고, 그것을 익히고 지키십시오.
  2. 주 우리의 하나님은 호렙 산에서 우리와 언약을 세우셨습니다.
  3. 주님께서 이 언약을 우리 조상과 세우신 것이 아니라, 오늘 여기 살아 있는 우리 모두와 세우신 것입니다.
  4. 주님께서는 그 산 불 가운데서, 당신들과 함께 서로 얼굴을 마주 보고 말씀하셨습니다.
  5. 그 때에 당신들이 그 불을 무서워하여 산에 올라가지 못하였으므로, 내가 주님과 당신들의 사이에 서서, 주님의 말씀을 당신들에게 전하여 주었습니다. 주님께서 말씀하셨습니다.
  1. I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
  2. Thou shalt have none other gods before me.
  3. Thou shalt not make thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth:
  4. Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me,
  5. And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.
  1. '나는 너희를 이집트 땅, 종살이하던 집에서 이끌어 낸 주 너희의 하나님이다.
  2. 너희는 내 앞에서 다른 신들을 섬기지 못한다.
  3. 너희는 너희가 섬기려고 위로 하늘에 있는 것이나, 아래로 땅에 있는 것이나, 땅 아래 물 속에 있는 어떤 것이든지, 그 모양을 본떠서 우상을 만들지 못한다.
  4. 너희는 그것들에게 절하거나, 그것들을 섬기지 못한다. 나, 주 너희의 하나님은 질투하는 하나님이다. 나를 미워하는 사람에게는 그 죄값으로, 본인뿐만 아니라 삼사 대 자손에게까지 벌을 내린다.
  5. 그러나 나를 사랑하고 나의 계명을 지키는 사람에게는 수천 대 자손에 이르기까지 한결같은 사랑을 베푼다.
  1. Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain: for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
  2. Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee.
  3. Six days thou shalt labour, and do all thy work:
  4. But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou.
  5. And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day.
  1. 너희는 주 너의 하나님의 이름을 함부로 부르지 못한다. 주는 자기 이름을 함부로 일컫는 사람을 죄 없다고 하지 않는다.
  2. 너희는 안식일을 거룩하게 지켜라. 이것은 주 너희의 하나님이 너희에게 명한 것이다.
  3. 너희는 엿새 동안 모든 일을 힘써 하여라.
  4. 그러나 이렛날은 주 너희 하나님의 안식일이니, 너희는 어떤 일도 해서는 안 된다. 너나, 너의 아들이나 딸이나, 너희의 남종이나 여종뿐만 아니라, 너희의 소나 나귀나, 그 밖에 모든 집짐승이나, 너희의 집안에 머무르는 식객이라도, 일을 해서는 안 된다. 너희의 남종이나 여종도 너와 똑같이 쉬게 하여야 한다.
  5. 너희는 기억하여라. 너희가 이집트 땅에서 종살이를 하고 있을 때에, 주 너희의 하나님이 강한 손과 편 팔로 너희를 거기에서 이끌어 내었으므로, 주 너희의 하나님이 너에게 안식일을 지키라고 명한다.
  1. Honour thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
  2. Thou shalt not kill.
  3. Neither shalt thou commit adultery.
  4. Neither shalt thou steal.
  5. Neither shalt thou bear false witness against thy neighbour.
  1. 너희 부모를 공경하여라. 주 너희 하나님이 명하신 것이다. 그래야 너희는, 주 너희의 하나님이 너희에게 준 땅에서 오래 살면서 복을 누린다.
  2. 살인하지 못한다.
  3. 간음하지 못한다.
  4. 도둑질하지 못한다.
  5. 이웃을 모함하는 거짓 증언을 하지 못한다.
  1. Neither shalt thou desire thy neighbour's wife, neither shalt thou covet thy neighbour's house, his field, or his manservant, or his maidservant, his ox, or his ass, or any thing that is thy neighbour's.
  2. These words the LORD spake unto all your assembly in the mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice: and he added no more. And he wrote them in two tables of stone, and delivered them unto me.
  3. And it came to pass, when ye heard the voice out of the midst of the darkness, (for the mountain did burn with fire,) that ye came near unto me, even all the heads of your tribes, and your elders;
  4. And ye said, Behold, the LORD our God hath shewed us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the midst of the fire: we have seen this day that God doth talk with man, and he liveth.
  5. Now therefore why should we die? for this great fire will consume us: if we hear the voice of the LORD our God any more, then we shall die.
  1. 이웃의 아내를 탐내지 못한다. 이웃의 집이나 밭이나, 남종이나 여종이나 소나 나귀나 할 것 없이, 너희 이웃의 소유는 어떤 것도 탐내지 못한다.'
  2. 주님께서는 이 말씀을 구름이 덮인 캄캄한 산 위 불 가운데서, 큰 목소리로 당신들 온 총회에 선포하시고, 이 말씀에 조금도 보탬이 없이, 그대로 두 돌판에 새겨서 나에게 주셨습니다."
  3. "산이 불에 탈 때에, 캄캄한 어둠 속에서 들려 오는 음성을 당신들이 듣고, 당신들 지파의 모든 두령과 장로들이 나에게 다가와서,
  4. 이렇게 말하였습니다. '보십시오, 주 우리의 하나님은 그의 영광과 위엄을 우리에게 보여 주시고, 우리는 불 가운데서 들려 오는 하나님의 음성을 들었습니다. 그리고 하나님이 사람과 말씀하셨는데도 그 사람이 여전히 살아 있음을, 오늘 우리는 보았습니다.
  5. 그런데 지금은 이 큰 불길이 우리를 삼키려고 하고 있으니, 어찌하여 우리가 죽음의 위협을 받아야 합니까? 우리가 주 우리 하나님의 음성을 다시 듣는다면, 우리는 죽을 것입니다.
  1. For who is there of all flesh, that hath heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as we have, and lived?
  2. Go thou near, and hear all that the LORD our God shall say: and speak thou unto us all that the LORD our God shall speak unto thee; and we will hear it, and do it.
  3. And the LORD heard the voice of your words, when ye spake unto me; and the LORD said unto me, I have heard the voice of the words of this people, which they have spoken unto thee: they have well said all that they have spoken.
  4. O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!
  5. Go say to them, Get you into your tents again.
  1. 살아 계시는 하나님이 불 가운데서 하시는 말씀을 듣고도 우리처럼 산 사람이, 육체를 가진 사람 가운데 누가 있겠습니까?
  2. 그러니 직접 가까이 나아가셔서, 주 우리의 하나님이 말씀하시는 것을 모두 들으시고, 주 우리의 하나님이 하신 모든 말씀을 우리에게 다 전달하여 주시기를 바랍니다. 그러면 우리가 듣고 그대로 하겠습니다.'
  3. 당신들이 나에게 한 이 말을 주님께서 모두 들으셨습니다. 주님께서 나에게 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. '이 백성이 너에게 말하는 것을 내가 들으니, 그들의 말이 모두 옳다.
  4. 그들이 언제나 이런 마음을 품고 나를 두려워하며, 나의 모든 명령을 지켜서, 그들만이 아니라 그 자손도 길이길이 잘 살게 되기를 바란다.
  5. 가서 그들에게 저마다 자기의 장막으로 돌아가라고 말하여라.
  1. But as for thee, stand thou here by me, and I will speak unto thee all the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which thou shalt teach them, that they may do them in the land which I give them to possess it.
  2. Ye shall observe to do therefore as the LORD your God hath commanded you: ye shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.
  3. Ye shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God hath commanded you, that ye may live, and that it may be well with you, and that ye may prolong your days in the land which ye shall possess.
  1. 그러나 너만은 여기에서 나와 함께 있다가, 내가 너에게 일러주는 이 모든 명령과 규례와 법도를 받아서 그들에게 가르쳐 주어라. 그들은 내가 그들에게 유산으로 주는 땅에서 그것을 그대로 실행하여야 한다.'
  2. 그러므로 당신들은 주 당신들의 하나님이 당신들에게 명하신 모든 것을 성심껏 지켜야 하며, 오른쪽으로나 왼쪽으로나 벗어나지 말아야 합니다.
  3. 당신들은 주 당신들의 하나님이 명하신 그 모든 길만을 따라가야 합니다. 그러면 당신들이 차지할 땅에서 풍성한 복을 얻고, 오래오래 잘 살 것입니다."
 
  하나님을 사랑하라(6:1-6:25)    
 
  1. Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which the LORD your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go to possess it:
  2. That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.
  3. Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey.
  4. Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:
  5. And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
  1. "이것은 주 당신들의 하나님이 당신들에게 가르치라고 나에게 명하신 명령과 규례와 법도입니다. 당신들은 건너가서 차지할 땅에서 이것을 지키십시오.
  2. 당신들이 주 당신들의 하나님을 경외하며, 내가 당신들에게 명한 모든 주님의 규례와 법도를 잘 지키면, 당신들과 당신들 자손이 오래오래 잘 살 것입니다.
  3. 그러니 이스라엘 자손 여러분, 이 모든 말을 듣고 성심껏 지키면, 주 당신들 조상의 하나님이 당신들에게 약속하신 대로, 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅에서 당신들이 잘 되고 크게 번성할 것입니다.
  4. 이스라엘은 들으십시오. 주님은 우리의 하나님이시요, 주님은 오직 한 분뿐이십니다.
  5. 당신들은 마음을 다하고 뜻을 다하고 힘을 다하여, 주 당신들의 하나님을 사랑하십시오.
  1. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
  2. And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
  3. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.
  4. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.
  5. And it shall be, when the LORD thy God shall have brought thee into the land which he sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee great and goodly cities, which thou buildedst not,
  1. 내가 오늘 당신들에게 명하는 이 말씀을 마음에 새기고,
  2. 자녀에게 부지런히 가르치며, 집에 앉아 있을 때나 길을 갈 때나, 누워 있을 때나 일어나 있을 때나, 언제든지 가르치십시오.
  3. 또 당신들은 그것을 손에 매어 표로 삼고, 이마에 붙여 기호로 삼으십시오.
  4. 집 문설주와 대문에도 써서 붙이십시오."
  5. "주 당신들의 하나님이, 당신들의 조상 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱에게 맹세하여 당신들에게 주기로 약속하신 그 땅에, 당신들을 이끌어들이실 것입니다. 거기에는 당신들이 세우지 않은 크고 아름다운 성읍들이 있고,
  1. And houses full of all good things, which thou filledst not, and wells digged, which thou diggedst not, vineyards and olive trees, which thou plantedst not; when thou shalt have eaten and be full;
  2. Then beware lest thou forget the LORD, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
  3. Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.
  4. Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people which are round about you;
  5. (For the LORD thy God is a jealous God among you) lest the anger of the LORD thy God be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth.
  1. 당신들이 채우지 않았지만 온갖 좋은 것으로 가득 찬 집이 있고, 당신들이 파지 않았지만 이미 파놓은 우물이 있고, 당신들이 심지 않았지만 이미 가꾸어 놓은 포도원과 올리브 밭이 있으니, 당신들은 거기에서 마음껏 먹게 될 것입니다.
  2. 당신들이 그렇게 될 때에, 당신들은 이집트 땅 종살이하던 집에서 당신들을 이끌어 내신 주님을 잊지 않도록 주의하십시오.
  3. 당신들은 주 당신들의 하나님을 경외하며, 그를 섬기며, 그의 이름으로만 맹세하십시오.
  4. 당신들은, 당신들 가까이에 있는 백성이 섬기는 신들 가운데에, 그 어떤 신도 따라가서는 안 됩니다.
  5. 당신들 가운데 계시는 주 당신들의 하나님은 질투하는 하나님이시니, 주 당신들의 하나님이 분노하시면, 당신들을 땅 위에서 멸하실 것입니다.
  1. Ye shall not tempt the LORD your God, as ye tempted him in Massah.
  2. Ye shall diligently keep the commandments of the LORD your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he hath commanded thee.
  3. And thou shalt do that which is right and good in the sight of the LORD: that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest go in and possess the good land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers.
  4. To cast out all thine enemies from before thee, as the LORD hath spoken.
  5. And when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What mean the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which the LORD our God hath commanded you?
  1. 당신들이 맛사에서 시험한 것처럼, 주 당신들의 하나님을 시험하면 안 됩니다.
  2. 주 당신들의 하나님의 명령과 그가 명한 훈령과 규례를 철저히 지켜야 합니다.
  3. 당신들은 주님께서 보시는 앞에서 올바르고 선한 일을 하십시오. 그러면 당신들이 잘 되고, 주님께서 당신들의 조상에게 맹세하신 저 좋은 땅에 들어가서, 그 곳을 차지하게 될 것이며,
  4. 주님께서 말씀하신 대로, 당신들 앞에서 당신들의 모든 원수를 쫓아낼 수 있을 것입니다.
  5. 나중에 당신들의 자녀가, 주 당신들의 하나님이 당신들에게 명하신 훈령과 규례와 법도가 무엇이냐고 당신들에게 묻거든,
  1. Then thou shalt say unto thy son, We were Pharaoh's bondmen in Egypt; and the LORD brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand:
  2. And the LORD shewed signs and wonders, great and sore, upon Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his household, before our eyes:
  3. And he brought us out from thence, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he sware unto our fathers.
  4. And the LORD commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.
  5. And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the LORD our God, as he hath commanded us.
  1. 당신들은 자녀에게 이렇게 일러주십시오. '옛적에 우리는 이집트에서 바로의 노예로 있었으나, 주님께서 강한 손으로 우리를 이집트에서 이끌어 내셨다.
  2. 그 때에 주님께서는 우리가 보는 데서, 놀라운 기적과 기이한 일로 이집트의 바로와 그의 온 집안을 치셨다.
  3. 주님께서는 우리를 거기에서 이끌어 내시고, 우리의 조상에게 맹세하신 대로, 이 땅으로 우리를 데려오시고, 이 땅을 우리에게 주셨다.
  4. 주님께서 우리에게 이 모든 규례를 명하여 지키게 하시고, 주 우리의 하나님을 경외하게 하셨다. 우리가 그렇게만 하면, 오늘처럼 주님께서 언제나 우리를 지키시고, 우리가 잘 살게 하여 주실 것이다.
  5. 우리가 주 우리의 하나님 앞에서, 그가 우리에게 명하신 대로 이 모든 명령을 충실하게 지키면, 그것이 우리의 의로움이 될 것이다.'"
