사도행전 21:17-21:36

 예루살렘에 도착한 바울은 유대인들의 모함으로 몰매를 맞고 죽음의 위기에 놓였을 때 로마 군대 천부장에게 체포됨으로써 성난 군중들로부터 구출되었다.
  
  예루살렘으로 귀환(21:17-21:26)    
 
  1. And when we were come to Jerusalem, the brethren received us gladly.
  2. And the day following Paul went in with us unto James; and all the elders were present.
  3. And when he had saluted them, he declared particularly what things God had wrought among the Gentiles by his ministry.
  4. And when they heard it, they glorified the Lord, and said unto him, Thou seest, brother, how many thousands of Jews there are which believe; and they are all zealous of the law:
  5. And they are informed of thee, that thou teachest all the Jews which are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, saying that they ought not to circumcise their children, neither to walk after the customs.
  1. 우리가 예루살렘에 이르니, 형제들이 우리를 반가이 맞아 주었다.
  2. 이튿날 바울은 우리와 함께 야고보를 찾아갔는데, 장로들이 다 거기에 있었다.
  3. 바울은 그들에게 인사한 뒤에, 자기의 봉사 활동을 통하여 하나님께서 이방 사람 가운데서 행하신 일을 낱낱이 이야기하였다.
  4. 그들은 이 말을 듣고서, 하나님께 영광을 돌리고, 바울에게 말하였다. "형제여, 당신이 보는 대로, 유대 사람 가운데는 믿는 사람이 수만 명이나 되는데, 그들은 모두 율법에 열성적인 사람들입니다.
  5. 그런데 그들이 당신을 두고 하는 말을 소문으로 듣기로는, 당신이 이방 사람 가운데서 사는 모든 유대 사람에게 할례도 주지 말고 유대 사람의 풍속도 지키지 말라고 하면서, 모세를 배척하라고 가르친다는 것입니다.
  1. What is it therefore? the multitude must needs come together: for they will hear that thou art come.
  2. Do therefore this that we say to thee: We have four men which have a vow on them;
  3. Them take, and purify thyself with them, and be at charges with them, that they may shave their heads: and all may know that those things, whereof they were informed concerning thee, are nothing; but that thou thyself also walkest orderly, and keepest the law.
  4. As touching the Gentiles which believe, we have written and concluded that they observe no such thing, save only that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from strangled, and from fornication.
  5. Then Paul took the men, and the next day purifying himself with them entered into the temple, to signify the accomplishment of the days of purification, until that an offering should be offered for every one of them.
  1. 그러니 어떻게 하면 좋겠습니까? 그들은 틀림없이 당신이 왔다는 소식을 들을 것입니다.
  2. 그러므로 당신은 우리가 말하는 대로 하십시오. 우리 가운데서 하나님 앞에 스스로 맹세한 사람이 넷 있습니다.
  3. 이 사람들을 데리고 가서, 함께 정결 예식을 행하고, 그들이 머리를 깎게 하고, 그 비용을 대십시오. 그러면 사람들은 모두, 당신의 소문이 전혀 사실이 아니며, 도리어 당신이 율법을 지키며 바로 살아가고 있다는 것을 알게 될 것입니다.
  4. 신도가 된 이방 사람들에게는, 우상의 제물과 피와 목매어 죽인 것과 음행을 삼가야 한다는 것을, 우리가 결정해서 써 보냈습니다."
  5. 그래서 바울은 그 다음날 그 네 사람을 데리고 가서, 함께 정결 예식을 한 뒤에, 성전으로 들어갔다. 그리고 정결 기한이 차는 날짜와 각 사람을 위해서 예물을 바칠 날짜를 신고하였다.
 
  바울의 체포(21:27-21:36)    
 
  1. And when the seven days were almost ended, the Jews which were of Asia, when they saw him in the temple, stirred up all the people, and laid hands on him,
  2. Crying out, Men of Israel, help: This is the man, that teacheth all men every where against the people, and the law, and this place: and further brought Greeks also into the temple, and hath polluted this holy place.
  3. (For they had seen before with him in the city Trophimus an Ephesian, whom they supposed that Paul had brought into the temple.)
  4. And all the city was moved, and the people ran together: and they took Paul, and drew him out of the temple: and forthwith the doors were shut.
  5. And as they went about to kill him, tidings came unto the chief captain of the band, that all Jerusalem was in an uproar.
  1. 그 이레가 거의 끝나갈 무렵에, 아시아에서 온 유대 사람들이 성전에서 바울을 보고, 군중을 충동해서, 바울을 붙잡아 놓고,
  2. 소리 쳤다. "이스라엘 동포 여러분, 합세하여 주십시오. 이 자는 어디에서나 우리 민족과 율법과 이 곳을 거슬러서 사람들을 가르칩니다. 더욱이 이 자는 그리스 사람들을 성전에 데리고 들어와서, 이 거룩한 곳을 더럽혀 놓았습니다."
  3. 이는 그들이 에베소 사람 드로비모가 바울과 함께 성내에 있는 것을 전에 보았으므로, 바울이 그를 성전에 데리고 들어왔으리라고 생각하였기 때문이다.
  4. 그래서 온 도시가 소란해지고, 백성들이 몰려들어서 바울을 잡아 성전 바깥으로 끌어내니, 성전 문이 곧 닫혔다.
  5. 그들이 바울을 죽이려고 할 때에, 온 예루살렘이 소요에 휘말려 있다는 보고가 천부장에게 올라갔다.
  1. Who immediately took soldiers and centurions, and ran down unto them: and when they saw the chief captain and the soldiers, they left beating of Paul.
  2. Then the chief captain came near, and took him, and commanded him to be bound with two chains; and demanded who he was, and what he had done.
  3. And some cried one thing, some another, among the multitude: and when he could not know the certainty for the tumult, he commanded him to be carried into the castle.
  4. And when he came upon the stairs, so it was, that he was borne of the soldiers for the violence of the people.
  5. For the multitude of the people followed after, crying, Away with him.
  1. 그는 곧 병사들과 백부장들을 거느리고, 그 사람들에게로 달려갔다. 그들은 천부장과 군인들을 보고, 바울을 때리는 것을 멈추었다.
  2. 천부장이 가까이 가서, 바울을 체포하였다. 그리고 그는 부하들에게 쇠사슬 둘로 바울을 결박하라고 명령하고, 그가 어떤 사람이며, 또 무슨 일을 하였는지를 물었다.
  3. 그러나 무리 가운데서 사람들이 저마다 다른 소리를 질렀다. 천부장은 소란 때문에 사건의 진상을 알 수 없었으므로, 바울을 병영 안으로 끌고 가라고 명령하였다.
  4. 바울이 층계에 이르렀을 때에는 군중이 하도 난폭하게 굴었기 때문에, 군인들이 그를 둘러메고 가야 하였다.
  5. 큰 무리가 따라오면서 "그 자를 없애 버려라!" 하고 외쳤다.
