- And when it was determined that we should sail into Italy, they delivered Paul and certain other prisoners unto one named Julius, a centurion of Augustus' band.
- And entering into a ship of Adramyttium, we launched, meaning to sail by the coasts of Asia; one Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica, being with us.
- And the next day we touched at Sidon. And Julius courteously entreated Paul, and gave him liberty to go unto his friends to refresh himself.
- And when we had launched from thence, we sailed under Cyprus, because the winds were contrary.
- And when we had sailed over the sea of Cilicia and Pamphylia, we came to Myra, a city of Lycia.

- 우리가 배로 이탈리아에 가야 하는 것이 결정되었을 때에, 그들은 바울과 몇몇 다른 죄수를 황제 부대의 백부장 율리오라는 사람에게 넘겨주었다.
- 우리는 아드라뭇데노 호를 타고 출항하였다. 이 배는 아시아 연안의 여러 곳으로 항해하는 배였다. 데살로니가 출신인 마케도니아 사람 아리스다고도 우리와 함께 하였다.
- 이튿날 우리는 시돈에 배를 대었다. 율리오는 바울에게 친절을 베풀어, 친구들에게로 가서 보살핌을 받는 것을 허락하였다.
- 우리는 시돈을 떠나 뱃길을 갈 때에, 맞바람 때문에 키프로스 섬을 바람막이로 삼아서 항해하였다.
- 우리는 길리기아와 밤빌리아 앞 바다를 가로질러 항해하여, 루기아에 있는 무라에 이르렀다.

- And there the centurion found a ship of Alexandria sailing into Italy; and he put us therein.
- And when we had sailed slowly many days, and scarce were come over against Cnidus, the wind not suffering us, we sailed under Crete, over against Salmone;
- And, hardly passing it, came unto a place which is called The fair havens; nigh whereunto was the city of Lasea.
- Now when much time was spent, and when sailing was now dangerous, because the fast was now already past, Paul admonished them,
- And said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives.

- 거기서 백부장은 이탈리아로 가는 알렉산드리아 배를 만나서, 우리를 그 배에 태웠다.
- 우리는 여러 날 동안 천천히 항해하여, 겨우 니도 앞바다에 이르렀다. 그런데 우리는 맞바람 때문에 더 이상 나아갈 수 없어서, 크레타 섬을 바람막이로 삼아 살모네 앞바다를 항해하여 지나갔다.
- 그리고 우리는 크레타 남쪽 해안을 따라 겨우겨우 항해하여, 라새아 성에서 가까운 도시인 '아름다운 항구'라는 곳에 닿았다.
- 많은 시일이 흘러서, 금식 기간이 이미 지났으므로, 벌써 항해하기에 위태로운 때가 되었다. 그래서 바울은 그들에게 이렇게 충고하였다.
- "여러분, 내가 보기에, 지금 항해를 하다가는 재난을 당할 것 같은데, 짐과 배의 손실만이 아니라, 우리의 생명까지도 잃을지 모릅니다."

- Nevertheless the centurion believed the master and the owner of the ship, more than those things which were spoken by Paul.
- And because the haven was not commodious to winter in, the more part advised to depart thence also, if by any means they might attain to Phenice, and there to winter; which is an haven of Crete, and lieth toward the south west and north west.
- And when the south wind blew softly, supposing that they had obtained their purpose, loosing thence, they sailed close by Crete.
- But not long after there arose against it a tempestuous wind, called Euroclydon.
- And when the ship was caught, and could not bear up into the wind, we let her drive.

- 그러나 백부장은 바울의 말보다는 선장과 선주의 말을 더 믿었다.
- 그리고 그 항구는 겨울을 나기에 적합하지 못한 곳이므로, 거의 모두는, 거기에서 출항하여, 할 수 있으면 뵈닉스로 가서 겨울을 나기로 뜻을 정하였다. 뵈닉스는 크레타 섬의 항구로, 서남쪽과 서북쪽을 바라보는 곳이다.
- 때마침 남풍이 순하게 불어오므로, 그들은 뜻을 이룬 것이나 다름없다고 생각하고, 닻을 올리고서, 크레타 해안에 바싹 붙어서 항해하였다.
- 그런데 얼마 안 되어서, 유라굴로라는 폭풍이 섬쪽에서 몰아쳤다.
- 배가 폭풍에 휘말려서, 바람을 맞서서 나아갈 수 없으므로, 우리는 체념하고, 떠밀려 가기 시작하였다.

- And running under a certain island which is called Clauda, we had much work to come by the boat:
- Which when they had taken up, they used helps, undergirding the ship; and, fearing lest they should fall into the quicksands, strake sail, and so were driven.
- And we being exceedingly tossed with a tempest, the next day they lightened the ship;
- And the third day we cast out with our own hands the tackling of the ship.
- And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken away.

- 그런데 우리가 가우다라는 작은 섬 아래쪽을 따라 밀려 갈 때에, 그 섬이 어느 정도 바람막이가 되어 주었으므로, 우리는 간신히 거룻배를 휘어잡을 수 있었다.
- 선원들은 거룻배를 갑판 위에다가 끌어올리고 밧줄을 이용하여 선체를 동여매었다. 그리고 그들은 리비아 근해의 모래톱으로 밀려들까 두려워서, 바다에 닻을 내리고, 그냥 떠밀려 가고 있었다.
- 우리는 폭풍에 몹시 시달리고 있었는데, 다음날 선원들은 짐을 바다에 내던졌고,
- 사흘째 날에는 자기네들 손으로 배의 장비마저 내버렸다.
- 여러 날 동안 해도 별도 보이지 않고, 거센 바람만이 심하게 불었으므로, 우리는 살아 남으리라는 희망을 점점 잃었다.

- But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss.
- And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man's life among you, but of the ship.
- For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve,
- Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee.
- Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.

- 사람들은 오랫동안 아무것도 먹지 못하고 있었다. 그 때에 바울이 이렇게 말하였다. "여러분, 여러분은 내 말을 듣고, 크레타에서 출항하지 않았어야 했습니다. 그랬으면, 이런 재난과 손실은 당하지 않았을 것입니다.
- 그러나 이제 나는 여러분에게 권합니다. 기운을 내십시오. 이 배만 잃을 뿐, 여러분 가운데 한 사람도 목숨을 잃지는 않을 것입니다.
- 바로 지난밤에, 나의 주님이시요 내가 섬기는 분이신 하나님의 천사가, 내 곁에 서서
- '바울아, 두려워하지 말아라. 너는 반드시 황제 앞에 서야 한다. 보아라, 하나님께서는 너와 함께 타고 가는 모든 사람의 안전을 너에게 맡겨 주셨다' 하고 말씀하셨습니다.
- 그러므로 여러분, 힘을 내십시오. 나는 하나님께서 나에게 말씀하신 그대로 되리라고 믿습니다.

- Howbeit we must be cast upon a certain island.

- 우리는 반드시 어떤 섬으로 밀려가 닿게 될 것입니다."
