- Then Job answered and said,
- How long will ye vex my soul, and break me in pieces with words?
- These ten times have ye reproached me: ye are not ashamed that ye make yourselves strange to me.
- And be it indeed that I have erred, mine error remaineth with myself.
- If indeed ye will magnify yourselves against me, and plead against me my reproach:

- 욥이 대답하였다.
- 네가 언제까지 내 마음을 괴롭히며, 어느 때까지 말로써 나를 산산조각 내려느냐?
- 너희가 나를 모욕한 것이 이미 수십 번이거늘, 그렇게 나를 학대하고도 부끄럽지도 않으냐?
- 참으로 내게 잘못이 있다 하더라도, 그것은 내 문제일 뿐이고, 너희를 괴롭히는 것은 아니다.
- 너희 생각에는 너희가 나보다 더 낫겠고, 내가 겪는 이 모든 고난도 내가 지은 죄를 증명하는 것이겠지.

- Know now that God hath overthrown me, and hath compassed me with his net.
- Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard: I cry aloud, but there is no judgment.
- He hath fenced up my way that I cannot pass, and he hath set darkness in my paths.
- He hath stripped me of my glory, and taken the crown from my head.
- He hath destroyed me on every side, and I am gone: and mine hope hath he removed like a tree.

- 그러나 이것만은 알아야 한다. 나를 궁지로 몰아넣으신 분이 하나님이시고, 나를 그물로 덮어씌우신 분도 하나님이시다.
- "폭력이다!" 하고 부르짖어도 듣는 이가 없다. "살려 달라!"고 부르짖어도 귀를 기울이는 이가 없다.
- 하나님이, 내가 가는 길을 높은 담으로 막으시니, 내가 지나갈 수가 없다. 내 가는 길을 어둠으로 가로막으신다.
- 내 영광을 거두어 가시고, 머리에서 면류관을 벗겨 가셨다.
- 내 온몸을 두들겨 패시니, 이젠 내게 희망도 없다. 나무 뿌리를 뽑듯이, 내 희망을 뿌리째 뽑아 버리셨다.

- He hath also kindled his wrath against me, and he counteth me unto him as one of his enemies.
- His troops come together, and raise up their way against me, and encamp round about my tabernacle.
- He hath put my brethren far from me, and mine acquaintance are verily estranged from me.
- My kinsfolk have failed, and my familiar friends have forgotten me.
- They that dwell in mine house, and my maids, count me for a stranger: I am an alien in their sight.

- 하나님이 내게 불같이 노하셔서, 나를 적으로 여기시고,
- 나를 치시려고 군대를 보내시니 그 군대는 나를 치려고 길을 닦고, 내 집을 포위하였다.
- 그가 내 가족을 내게서 멀리 떠나가게 하시니, 나를 아는 이들마다, 낯선 사람이 되어 버렸다.
- 친척들도 나를 버렸으며, 가까운 친구들도 나를 잊었다.
- 내 집에 머무르는 나그네와 내 여종들까지도 나를 낯선 사람으로 대하니, 그들의 눈에, 나는 완전히 낯선 사람이 되고 말았다.

- I called my servant, and he gave me no answer; I intreated him with my mouth.
- My breath is strange to my wife, though I intreated for the children's sake of mine own body.
- Yea, young children despised me; I arose, and they spake against me.
- All my inward friends abhorred me: and they whom I loved are turned against me.
- My bone cleaveth to my skin and to my flesh, and I am escaped with the skin of my teeth.

- 종을 불러도 대답조차 안 하니, 내가 그에게 애걸하는 신세가 되었고,
- 아내조차 내가 살아 숨쉬는 것을 싫어하고, 친형제들도 나를 역겨워한다.
- 어린 것들까지도 나를 무시하며, 내가 일어나기만 하면 나를 구박한다.
- 친한 친구도 모두 나를 꺼리며, 내가 사랑하던 이들도 내게서 등을 돌린다.
- 나는 피골이 상접하여 뼈만 앙상하게 드러나고, 잇몸으로 겨우 연명하는 신세가 되었다.

- Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends; for the hand of God hath touched me.
- Why do ye persecute me as God, and are not satisfied with my flesh?
- Oh that my words were now written! oh that they were printed in a book!
- That they were graven with an iron pen and lead in the rock for ever!
- For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:

- 너희는 내 친구들이니, 나를 너무 구박하지 말고 불쌍히 여겨다오. 하나님이 손으로 나를 치셨는데,
- 어찌하여 너희마저 마치 하나님이라도 된 듯이 나를 핍박하느냐? 내 몸이 이 꼴인데도, 아직도 성에 차지 않느냐?
- 아, 누가 있어 내가 하는 말을 듣고 기억하여 주었으면!
- 누가 있어 내가 하는 말을 비망록에 기록하여 주었으면! 누가 있어 내가 한 말이 영원히 남도록 바위에 글을 새겨 주었으면!
- 그러나 나는 확신한다. 내 구원자가 살아 계신다. 나를 돌보시는 그가 땅 위에 우뚝 서실 날이 반드시 오고야 말 것이다.

- And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:
- Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.
- But ye should say, Why persecute we him, seeing the root of the matter is found in me?
- Be ye afraid of the sword: for wrath bringeth the punishments of the sword, that ye may know there is a judgment.

- 내 살갗이 다 썩은 다음에라도, 내 육체가 다 썩은 다음에라도, 나는 하나님을 뵈올 것이다.
- 내가 그를 직접 뵙겠다. 이 눈으로 직접 뵐 때에, 하나님이 낯설지 않을 것이다. 내 간장이 다 녹는구나!
- 나는 너희가 무슨 말을 할지 잘 알고 있다. 너희는 내게 고통을 줄 궁리만 하고 있다. 너희는 나를 칠 구실만 찾고 있다.
- 그러나 이제 너희는 칼을 두려워해야 한다. 칼은 바로 죄 위에 내리는 하나님의 분노다. 너희는, 심판하시는 분이 계시다는 것을 알아야 할 것이다.
