- The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;
- To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;
- To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;
- To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.
- A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:

- 이것은 다윗의 아들 이스라엘 왕 솔로몬의 잠언이다.
- 이 잠언은 지혜와 훈계를 알게 하며, 명철의 말씀을 깨닫게 하며,
- 정의와 공평과 정직을 지혜롭게 실행하도록 훈계를 받게 하며,
- 어수룩한 사람을 슬기롭게 하여 주며, 젊은이들에게 지식과 분별력을 갖게 하여 주는 것이니,
- 지혜 있는 사람은 이 가르침을 듣고 학식을 더할 것이요, 명철한 사람은 지혜를 더 얻게 될 것이다.

- To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.
- The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
- My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:
- For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.

- 잠언과 비유와 지혜 있는 사람의 말과 그 심오한 뜻을 깨달아 알 수 있을 것이다.
- 주님을 경외하는 것이 지식의 근본이어늘, 어리석은 사람은 지혜와 훈계를 멸시한다.
- 아이들아, 아버지의 훈계를 잘 듣고, 어머니의 가르침을 저버리지 말아라.
- 진정 이것은 머리에 쓸 아름다운 관이요, 너의 목에 걸 목걸이이다.
