- My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
- So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
- Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
- If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
- Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

- 아이들아, 내 말을 받아들이고, 내 명령을 마음 속 깊이 간직하여라.
- 지혜에 네 귀를 기울이고, 명철에 네 마음을 두어라.
- 슬기를 외쳐 부르고, 명철을 얻으려고 소리를 높여라.
- 은을 구하듯 그것을 구하고, 보화를 찾듯 그것을 찾아라.
- 그렇게 하면, 너는 주님을 경외하는 길을 깨달을 것이며, 하나님을 아는 지식을 터득할 것이다.

- For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
- He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.
- He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.
- Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.
- When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;

- 주님께서 지혜를 주시고, 주님께서 친히 지식과 명철을 주시기 때문이다.
- 정직한 사람에게는 분별하는 지혜를 마련하여 주시고, 흠 없이 사는 사람에게는 방패가 되어 주신다.
- 공평하게 사는 사람의 길을 보살펴 주시고, 주님께 충성하는 사람의 길을 지켜 주신다.
- 그 때에야 너는 정의와 공평과 정직, 이 모든 복된 길을 깨달을 것이다.
- 지혜가 네 마음 속에 들어가고, 지식이 네 영혼을 즐겁게 할 것이다.

- Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:
- To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;
|
- 분별력이 너를 지켜 주고, 명철이 너를 보살펴 줄 것이다.
- 지혜가 악한 사람의 길에서 너를 구하고, 겉과 속이 다르게 말하는 사람에게서 너를 건질 것이다.
