- Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.
- I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.
- When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.
- Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.
- Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.

- 아이들아, 들어라. 내 말을 받아들이면, 네가 오래 살 것이다.
- 내가 네게 지혜로운 길을 가르쳐 주었고, 너를 바른길로 이끌어 주었으므로,
- 네가 걸을 때에, 네 걸음이 막히지 않고, 달려가도 넘어지지 않을 것이다.
- 훈계를 놓치지 말고 굳게 잡아라. 그것은 네 생명이니, 단단히 지켜라.
- 악독한 사람의 길에 들어서지 말고, 악한 사람의 길로는 다니지도 말아라.

- Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.
- For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.
- For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.
- But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
- The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.

- 그런 길은 피하고, 건너가지도 말며, 발길을 돌려서, 지나쳐 버려라.
- 그들은 악한 일을 저지르지 않고는 잠을 이루지 못하며, 남을 넘어지게 하지 않고는 잠을 설치는 자들이다.
- 그들은 악한 방법으로 얻은 빵을 먹으며, 폭력으로 빼앗은 포도주를 마신다.
- 의인의 길은 동틀 때의 햇살 같아서, 대낮이 될 때까지 점점 더 빛나지만,
- 악인의 길은 캄캄하여, 넘어져도 무엇에 걸려 넘어졌는지 알지 못한다.
