- 이것은 솔로몬의 잠언이다. 지혜로운 아들은 아버지를 기쁘게 하지만, 미련한 아들은 어머니의 근심거리이다.
- 부정하게 모은 재물은 쓸모가 없지만, 의리는 죽을 사람도 건져낸다.
- 주님은 의로운 생명은 주리지 않게 하시지만, 악인의 탐욕은 물리치신다.
- 손이 게으른 사람은 가난하게 되고 손이 부지런한 사람은 부유하게 된다.
- 곡식이 익었을 때에 거두어들이는 아들은 지혜가 있는 아들이지만, 추수 때에 잠만 자고 있으면, 부끄러운 아들이다.

- 마음이 지혜로운 사람은 명령을 받아들이지만, 입을 어리석게 놀리는 사람은 멸망한다.
- 흠 없이 살면 앞길이 평안하지만, 그릇되게 살면 마침내 드러나게 된다.
- 눈을 흘기면 고난이 생기고, 입을 어리석게 놀리는 사람은 멸망한다.
