- 지혜가 없는 사람은 이웃을 비웃지만, 명철한 사람은 침묵을 지킨다.
- 험담하며 돌아다니는 사람은 남의 비밀을 새게 하지만, 마음이 믿음직한 사람은 비밀을 지킨다.
- 지도자가 없으면 백성이 망하지만, 참모가 많으면 평안을 누린다.

- As righteousness tendeth to life: so he that pursueth evil pursueth it to his own death.

- 모르는 사람의 보증을 서면 고통을 당하지만, 보증 서기를 거절하면 안전하다.
- 덕이 있는 여자는 존경을 받고, 부지런한 남자는 재물을 얻는다.
- 인자한 사람은 자기의 생명을 이롭게 하고, 잔인한 사람은 자기의 몸을 해친다.
- 악인에게 돌아오는 삯은 헛것이지만, 정의를 심는 사람은 참 보상을 받는다.
- 정의에 굳게 서는 사람은 생명에 이르지만, 악을 따르는 사람은 죽음에 이른다.
