- 밭을 가는 사람은 먹을 것이 넉넉하지만, 헛된 것을 꿈꾸는 사람은 지각이 없다.
- 악인은 불의한 이익을 탐하지만, 의인은 그 뿌리로 말미암아 열매를 맺는다.
- 악인은 입술을 잘못 놀려 덫에 걸리지만, 의인은 재난에서 벗어난다.
- 사람은 열매 맺는 말을 하여 좋은 것을 넉넉하게 얻으며, 자기가 손수 일한 만큼 되돌려 받는다.
- 어리석은 사람은 자신의 행실만이 옳다고 여기지만, 지혜로운 사람은 충고에 귀를 기울인다.

- A fool's wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covereth shame.
- He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.
- There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health.
- The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.
- Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellors of peace is joy.

- 미련한 사람은 쉽게 화를 내지만, 슬기로운 사람은 모욕을 참는다.
- 진실을 말하는 사람은 정직한 증거를 보이지만, 거짓 증인은 속임수만 쓴다.
- 함부로 말하는 사람의 말은 비수 같아도, 지혜로운 사람의 말은 아픈 곳을 낫게 하는 약이다.
- 진실한 말은 영원히 남지만, 거짓말은 한순간만 통할 뿐이다.
- 악을 꾀하는 사람의 마음에는 속임수가 들어 있지만, 평화를 꾀하는 사람에게는 기쁨이 있다.
