- All the days of the afflicted are evil: but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.

- '죽음'과 '파멸'도 주님 앞에서 드러나거늘, 사람의 마음이야 더욱 그러하지 않겠는가!
- 거만한 사람은 자기를 책망하는 사람을 좋아하지 않으며, 지혜 있는 사람을 찾아가지도 않는다.
- 즐거운 마음은 얼굴을 밝게 하지만, 근심하는 마음은 너를 상하게 한다.
- 명철한 사람의 마음은 지식을 찾지만, 미련한 사람의 입은 어리석음을 즐긴다.
- 고난받는 사람에게는 모든 날이 다 불행한 날이지만, 마음이 즐거운 사람에게는 모든 날이 잔칫날이다.

- Better is little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure and trouble therewith.
- Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.
- A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.
- The way of the slothful man is as an hedge of thorns: but the way of the righteous is made plain.
- A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish man despiseth his mother.

- 재산이 적어도 주님을 경외하며 사는 것이, 재산이 많아서 다투며 사는 것보다 낫다.
- 서로 사랑하며 채소를 먹고 사는 것이, 서로 미워하며 기름진 쇠고기를 먹고 사는 것보다 낫다.
- 화를 쉽게 내는 사람은 다툼을 일으키지만, 성을 더디 내는 사람은 싸움을 그치게 한다.
- 게으른 사람의 길은 가시덤불로 덮여 있는 것 같지만, 부지런한 사람의 길은 확 트인 큰길과 같다.
- 지혜로운 아들은 아버지를 기쁘게 하지만, 미련한 아들은 어머니를 업신여긴다.

- 생각이 모자라는 사람은 미련함을 즐기지만, 명철한 사람은 길을 바로 걷는다.
