- 규격에 맞지 않은 저울추와 되는 모두 주님께서 미워하시는 것이다.
- 비록 아이라 하여도 자기 행위로 사람됨을 드러낸다. 그가 하는 행실을 보면, 그가 깨끗한지 더러운지, 올바른지 그른지, 알 수 있다.
- 듣는 귀와 보는 눈, 이 둘은 다 주님께서 지으셨다.
- 가난하지 않으려면 잠을 좋아하지 말고, 먹거리를 풍족히 얻으려면 깨어 있어라.
- 물건을 고를 때는 "나쁘다, 나쁘다" 하지만, 사 간 다음에는 잘 샀다고 자랑한다.

- 세상에 금도 있고 진주도 많이 있지만, 정말 귀한 보배는 지각 있게 말하는 입이다.
- 남의 보증을 선 사람은 자기의 옷을 잡혀야 하고, 모르는 사람의 보증을 선 사람은 자기의 몸을 잡혀야 한다.
- 사람들은 속여서 얻은 빵이 맛있다고 하지만, 훗날에 그 입에 모래가 가득 찰 것이다.
- 계획은 사람들의 뜻을 모아서 세우고, 전쟁은 전략을 세워 놓고 하여라.
- 험담하며 돌아다니는 사람은 남의 비밀을 새게 하는 사람이니, 입을 벌리고 다니는 사람과는 어울리지 말아라.
