- 악인은 마음에 악한 것만을 바라니, 가까운 이웃에게도 은혜를 베풀지 못한다.
- 오만한 사람이 벌을 받으면 어수룩한 사람이 깨닫고, 지혜로운 사람이 책망을 받으면 지식을 더 얻는다.
- 의로우신 하나님은 악인의 집을 주목하시고, 그를 재앙에 빠지게 하신다.
- 가난한 사람의 부르짖음에 귀를 막으면, 자기가 부르짖을 때에 아무도 대답하지 않는다.
- 은밀하게 주는 선물은 화를 가라앉히고, 품 속에 넣어 주는 뇌물은 격한 분노를 가라앉힌다.

- It is joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.

- 정의가 실현될 때에, 의인은 기뻐하고, 악인은 절망한다.
- 슬기로운 길에서 빗나가는 사람은 죽은 사람들과 함께 쉬게 될 것이다.
- 향락을 좋아하는 사람은 가난하게 되고, 술과 기름을 좋아하는 사람도 부자가 되지 못한다.
- 악인은 의로운 사람 대신에 치르는 몸값이 되고, 사기꾼은 정직한 사람 대신에 치르는 몸값이 된다.
- 다투며 성내는 아내와 함께 사는 것보다, 광야에서 혼자 사는 것이 더 낫다.
