- Speak not in the ears of a fool: for he will despise the wisdom of thy words.
- Remove not the old landmark; and enter not into the fields of the fatherless:
- For their redeemer is mighty; he shall plead their cause with thee.
- Apply thine heart unto instruction, and thine ears to the words of knowledge.
- Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.

- 미련한 사람의 귀에는 아무 말도 하지 말아라. 그가 너의 슬기로운 말을 업신여길 것이기 때문이다.
- 옛날에 세워 놓은 밭 경계표를 옮기지 말며, 고아들의 밭을 침범하지 말아라.
- 그들의 구원자는 강한 분이시니, 그분이 그들의 송사를 맡으셔서 너를 벌하실 것이다.
- 훈계를 너의 마음에 간직하고, 지식이 담긴 말씀에 너의 귀를 기울여라.
- 아이 꾸짖는 것을 삼가지 말아라. 매질을 한다고 하여서 죽지는 않는다.

- Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.
- My son, if thine heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine.
- Yea, my reins shall rejoice, when thy lips speak right things.
- Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the LORD all the day long.
- For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off.

- 그에게 매질을 하는 것이, 오히려 그의 목숨을 스올에서 구하는 일이다.
- 내 아이들아, 너의 마음이 지혜로우면, 나의 마음도 또한 즐겁다.
- 네가 입을 열어 옳은말을 할 때면, 나의 속이 다 후련하다.
- 죄인들을 보고 마음 속으로 부러워하지 말고, 늘 주님을 경외하여라.
- 그러면, 너의 미래가 밝아지고, 너의 소망도 끊어지지 않는다.
