- These things also belong to the wise. It is not good to have respect of persons in judgment.
- He that saith unto the wicked, Thou are righteous; him shall the people curse, nations shall abhor him:
- But to them that rebuke him shall be delight, and a good blessing shall come upon them.
- Every man shall kiss his lips that giveth a right answer.
- Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house.

- 몇 가지 교훈이 더 있다. 재판할 때에 얼굴을 보아 재판하는 것은 옳지 않다.
- 악인에게 '네가 옳다' 하는 자는 백성에게서 저주를 받고, 뭇 민족에게서 비난을 받을 것이다.
- 그러나 악인을 꾸짖는 사람은 기쁨을 얻을 것이며, 좋은 복도 받을 것이다.
- 바른말을 해주는 것이, 참된 우정이다.
- 네 바깥 일을 다 해놓고 네 밭 일을 다 살핀 다음에, 네 가정을 세워라.

- Be not a witness against thy neighbour without cause; and deceive not with thy lips.
- Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his work.
- I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;
- And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.
- Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction.

- 너는 이유도 없이 네 이웃을 치는 증언을 하지 말고, 네 입술로 속이는 일도 하지 말아라.
- 너는 "그가 나에게 한 그대로 나도 그에게 하여, 그가 나에게 한 만큼 갚아 주겠다" 하고 말하지 말아라.
- 게으른 사람의 밭과 지각이 없는 사람의 포도원을 내가 지나가면서 보았더니,
- 거기에는 가시덤불이 널려 있고, 엉겅퀴가 지면을 덮었으며, 돌담이 무너져 있었다.
- 나는 이것을 보고 마음 깊이 생각하고, 교훈을 얻었다.

- Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
- So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.

- "조금만 더 자야지, 조금만 더 눈을 붙여야지, 조금만 더 팔을 베고 누워 있어야지" 하면,
- 가난이 강도처럼 들이닥치고, 빈곤이 방패로 무장한 용사처럼 달려들 것이다.
