요엘

  본서는 유다에 임한 가뭄과 메뚜기 재앙을 통해 야웨의 심판하실 날이 임박했음을 선언하고 있으며, 전 인류에게 임할 오순절 성령 강림 사건을 명확하게 예언하고 있다.

  요엘은 메뚜기 재앙이 백성들의 죄와 불순종에서 왔음을 밝히고, 이는 장차 올 야웨의 심판의 전조임을 밝히면서 ‘야웨의 날’의 임박함을 선포하고 회개를 촉구하고 있다. 그리고 하나님께서 회개한 자들에게 성령을 부어 주셔서 하나님의 구원과 복을 누리게 될 것을 예언함으로써 그들에게 희망을 주고 있다.

 

 

요엘 1:1-2:17

 요엘은 유다 전역을 휩쓴 메뚜기 재앙이 하나님의 징계임을 알리면서 이 재앙으로 인해 온 유다 백성들과 자연이 받은 피해 상황을 자세히 묘사하였다. 그는 ‘야웨의 날’의 심판이 크고 심히 두렵다는 것과 그날이 임박했음을 말하면서 유다 백성들에게 금식과 마음을 찢는 회개를 요청하였다.
  
  메뚜기 재앙(1:1-1:20)    
 
  1. The word of the LORD that came to Joel the son of Pethuel.
  2. Hear this, ye old men, and give ear, all ye inhabitants of the land. Hath this been in your days, or even in the days of your fathers?
  3. Tell ye your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation.
  4. That which the palmerworm hath left hath the locust eaten; and that which the locust hath left hath the cankerworm eaten; and that which the cankerworm hath left hath the caterpiller eaten.
  5. Awake, ye drunkards, and weep; and howl, all ye drinkers of wine, because of the new wine; for it is cut off from your mouth.
  1. 이것은 주님께서 브두엘의 아들 요엘에게 하신 말씀이다.
  2. 나이 많은 사람들아, 들어라! 유다 땅에 사는 사람들아, 모두 귀를 기울여라! 너희가 살고 있는 지금이나 너희 조상이 살던 지난 날에, 이런 일이 일어난 적이 있느냐?
  3. 너희는 이것을 자녀들에게 말하고, 자녀들은 또 그들의 자녀들에게 말하게 하고, 그들은 또 그 다음 세대에 말하게 하여라.
  4. 풀무치가 남긴 것은 메뚜기가 갉아 먹고, 메뚜기가 남긴 것은 누리가 썰어 먹고, 누리가 남긴 것은 황충이 말끔히 먹어 버렸다.
  5. 술을 즐기는 자들아, 깨어나서 울어라. 포도주를 좋아하는 자들아, 모두 다 통곡하여라. 포도 농사가 망하였으니, 새 술을 만들 포도가 없다.
  1. For a nation is come up upon my land, strong, and without number, whose teeth are the teeth of a lion, and he hath the cheek teeth of a great lion.
  2. He hath laid my vine waste, and barked my fig tree: he hath made it clean bare, and cast it away; the branches thereof are made white.
  3. Lament like a virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth.
  4. The meat offering and the drink offering is cut off from the house of the LORD; the priests, the LORD's ministers, mourn.
  5. The field is wasted, the land mourneth; for the corn is wasted: the new wine is dried up, the oil languisheth.
  1. 셀 수 없이 많고 강한 메뚜기 군대가 우리의 땅을 공격하였다. 그들의 이빨은 사자의 이빨과 같고, 날카롭기가 암사자의 송곳니와 같다.
  2. 그들이 우리의 포도나무를 망쳐 놓았고, 우리의 무화과나무도 그루터기만 남겨 놓았다. 나무 껍질을 다 벗겨서 그 줄기가 모두 하얗게 말랐다.
  3. 백성아, 울어라! 약혼자를 잃고 슬퍼하는 처녀처럼, 굵은 베 옷을 걸치고 울어라.
  4. 성전에 날마다 바치는 곡식제물도 동나고 부어 드리는 제물도 떨어지니, 주님을 모시는 제사장들이 탄식한다.
  5. 밭이 황폐하구나. 곡식이 다 죽고, 포도송이가 말라 쪼그라들고, 올리브 열매가 말라 비틀어지니, 땅이 통곡하는구나.
  1. Be ye ashamed, O ye husbandmen; howl, O ye vinedressers, for the wheat and for the barley; because the harvest of the field is perished.
  2. The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languisheth; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree, even all the trees of the field, are withered: because joy is withered away from the sons of men.
  3. Gird yourselves, and lament, ye priests: howl, ye ministers of the altar: come, lie all night in sackcloth, ye ministers of my God: for the meat offering and the drink offering is withholden from the house of your God.
  4. Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the LORD your God, and cry unto the LORD,
  5. Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come.
  1. 농부들아, 슬퍼하여라. 포도원 일꾼들아, 통곡하여라. 밀과 보리가 다 죽고, 밭 곡식이 모두 죽었다.
  2. 포도나무가 마르고, 무화과나무도 시들었다. 석류나무, 종려나무, 사과나무 할 것 없이, 밭에 있는 나무가 모두 말라 죽었다. 백성의 기쁨이 모두 사라졌다.
  3. 제사장들아, 굵은 베 옷을 입고 슬피 울어라. 제단 앞에서 섬기는 자들아, 통곡하여라. 하나님을 섬기는 제사장들아, 굵은 베 옷을 입고 성전으로 가서, 밤을 새워 통곡하여라. 너희가 날마다 아침 저녁으로 하나님의 성전에 바칠 곡식제물과 부어 드릴 제물이 떨어졌다.
  4. 거룩한 금식을 선포하고, 성회를 열어라. 장로들과 유다 땅에 사는 모든 백성을 불러 주 너희 하나님의 성전에 모으고, 주님께 부르짖어라.
  5. 슬프다, 그 날이여! 주님께서 심판하실 날이 다가왔다. 전능하신 분께서 보내신 바로 그 파멸의 날이 다가왔다.
  1. Is not the meat cut off before our eyes, yea, joy and gladness from the house of our God?
  2. The seed is rotten under their clods, the garners are laid desolate, the barns are broken down; for the corn is withered.
  3. How do the beasts groan! the herds of cattle are perplexed, because they have no pasture; yea, the flocks of sheep are made desolate.
  4. O LORD, to thee will I cry: for the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame hath burned all the trees of the field.
  5. The beasts of the field cry also unto thee: for the rivers of waters are dried up, and the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness.
  1. 곡식이라고는 구경조차 할 수 없다. 우리 하나님의 성전에는 기쁨도 즐거움도 없다.
  2. 씨앗이 흙덩이 속에서 모두 말라 죽고, 광마다 텅텅 비고, 가물어, 거두어들일 곡식이 없어서, 창고는 폐허가 된다.
  3. 풀밭이 없어, 가축들이 울부짖고, 소 떼가 정신없이 헤매며, 양 떼도 괴로워한다.
  4. "주님, 제가 주님께 부르짖습니다. 불볕에 광야의 풀이 모두 타 죽고, 들의 나무가 이글거리는 불꽃에 모두 타 버렸습니다.
  5. 시내에도 물이 마르고 광야의 초원이 다 말라서, 들짐승도 주님께 부르짖습니다."
 
  야웨의 날(2:1-2:17)    
 
  1. Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand;
  2. A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations.
  3. A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them.
  4. The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they run.
  5. Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array.
  1. 너희는 시온에서 뿔나팔을 불어라. 하나님의 거룩한 산에서 경보를 울려라. 유다 땅에 사는 백성아, 모두 떨어라. 주님의 날이 오고 있다. 그 날이 다가오고 있다.
  2. 그 날은 캄캄하고 어두운 날, 먹구름과 어둠에 뒤덮이는 날이다. 셀 수 없이 많고 강한 메뚜기 군대가 온다. 마치 어둠이 산등성이를 넘어오듯이 새까맣게 다가온다. 까마득한 옛날까지 거슬러 올라가 보아도, 이런 일은 없었다. 앞으로 천만 대에 이르기까지도 다시는 이런 일이 없을 것이다.
  3. 그들이 불처럼 초목을 삼키고 지나가면, 지나간 자리에서는 불꽃이 활활 타오른다. 그들이 오기 전에는 이 땅이 에덴 동산 같으나, 한 번 지나가고 나면 황량한 사막이 되어 버린다. 그 앞에서는 살아 남은 것이 하나도 없다.
  4. 그들은 떼지어 몰려오는 말과 같고 달려오는 군마와 같다.
  5. 이 봉우리에서 저 봉우리로 달리는 소리는 병거의 굉음과도 같고, 불꽃이 검불을 태우는 소리와도 같다. 그들은 막강한 군대가 공격 명령을 기다리는 것 같이 전열을 갖춘다.
  1. Before their face the people shall be much pained: all faces shall gather blackness.
  2. They shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall like men of war; and they shall march every one on his ways, and they shall not break their ranks:
  3. Neither shall one thrust another; they shall walk every one in his path: and when they fall upon the sword, they shall not be wounded.
  4. They shall run to and fro in the city; they shall run upon the wall, they shall climb up upon the houses; they shall enter in at the windows like a thief.
  5. The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining:
  1. 그들이 접근하면 모두들 자지러지고, 모두들 얼굴빛이 하얗게 질린다.
  2. 그들은 용사처럼 공격하고, 군인처럼 성벽을 기어오른다. 제각기 줄을 맞추어 똑바로 전진하고 아무도 진로를 벗어나지 않는다.
  3. 서로 밀치지도 않고, 제각기 줄을 맞추어 진군한다. 빗발치듯 쏟아지는 투창을 뚫고 전진한다. 그들의 행렬은 끊어지지 않는다.
  4. 드디어 성 안으로 들어간다. 성벽을 뛰어넘고, 건물을 기어오르고, 도둑처럼 창문을 넘어 집 안으로 쳐들어간다.
  5. 전진할 때에는 땅이 진동하고, 온 하늘이 흔들린다. 해와 달이 어두워지고, 별들이 빛을 잃는다.
  1. And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?
  2. Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:
  3. And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.
  4. Who knoweth if he will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him; even a meat offering and a drink offering unto the LORD your God?
  5. Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly:
  1. 주님께서 큰 음성으로 당신의 군대를 지휘하신다. 병력은 헤아릴 수 없이 많고, 명령을 따르는 군대는 막강하다. 주님의 날은 놀라운 날, 가장 무서운 날이다. 누가 감히 그 날을 견디어 낼까?
  2. "지금이라도 너희는 진심으로 회개하여라. 나 주가 말한다. 금식하고 통곡하고 슬퍼하면서, 나에게로 돌아오너라.
  3. 옷을 찢지 말고, 마음을 찢어라." 주 너희의 하나님께로 돌아오너라. 주님께서는 은혜롭고 자비로우시며, 오래 참으시며, 한결같은 사랑을 늘 베푸시고, 불쌍히 여기는 마음이 많으셔서, 뜻을 돌이켜 재앙을 거두기도 하신다.
  4. 행여 주님께서 마음과 뜻을 돌이키시고 오히려 복까지 베푸셔서, 너희가 주 하나님께 곡식제물과 부어 드리는 제물을 바칠 수 있게까지 하실는지 누가 아느냐?
  5. 너희는 시온에서 뿔나팔을 불어라. 거룩한 금식을 선포하고, 성회를 열어라.
  1. Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts: let the bridegroom go forth of his chamber, and the bride out of her closet.
  2. Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare thy people, O LORD, and give not thine heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God?
  1. 백성을 한데 모으고, 회중을 거룩하게 구별하여라. 장로들을 불러모으고, 어린 아이들과 젖먹이들도 불러모아라. 신랑도 신방에서 나오게 하고, 신부도 침실에서 나오게 하여라.
  2. 주님을 섬기는 제사장들은 성전 현관과 번제단 사이에서, 울면서 호소하여라. "주님, 주님의 백성을 불쌍히 여겨 주십시오. 주님의 소유인 이 백성이 이방인들에게 통치를 받는 수모를 당하지 않게 하여 주십시오. 세계 만민이 '그들의 하나님이 어디에 있느냐?' 하면서 조롱하지 못하게 하여 주십시오."
