  1. And one of the company said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me.
  2. And he said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you?
  3. And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
  4. And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:
  5. And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?
  1. Someone in the crowd said to Him, "Teacher, tell my brother to divide the family inheritance with me."
  2. But He said to him, "Man, who appointed Me a judge or arbitrator over you?"
  3. Then He said to them, "Beware, and be on your guard against every form of greed; for not even when one has an abundance does his life consist of his possessions."
  4. And He told them a parable, saying, "The land of a rich man was very productive.
  5. "And he began reasoning to himself, saying, 'What shall I do, since I have no place to store my crops?'
  1. And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.
  2. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
  3. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
  4. So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
  5. And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.
  1. "Then he said, 'This is what I will do: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.
  2. 'And I will say to my soul, "Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years to come; take your ease, eat, drink and be merry."'
  3. "But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your soul is required of you; and now who will own what you have prepared?'
  4. "So is the man who stores up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God."
  5. And He said to His disciples, "For this reason I say to you, do not worry about your life, as to what you will eat; nor for your body, as to what you will put on.
  1. The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.
  2. Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?
  3. And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?
  4. If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest?
  5. Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
  1. "For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing.
  2. "Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap; they have no storeroom nor barn, and yet God feeds them; how much more valuable you are than the birds!
  3. "And which of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life's span?
  4. "If then you cannot do even a very little thing, why do you worry about other matters?
  5. "Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; but I tell you, not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these.
  1. If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?
  2. And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.
  3. For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.
  4. But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.
  5. Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
  1. "But if God so clothes the grass in the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, how much more will He clothe you? You men of little faith!
  2. "And do not seek what you will eat and what you will drink, and do not keep worrying.
  3. "For all these things the nations of the world eagerly seek; but your Father knows that you need these things.
  4. "But seek His kingdom, and these things will be added to you.
  5. "Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom.
  1. Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.
  2. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
  1. "Sell your possessions and give to charity; make yourselves money belts which do not wear out, an unfailing treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near nor moth destroys.
  2. "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
