- And they were in the way going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus went before them: and they were amazed; and as they followed, they were afraid. And he took again the twelve, and began to tell them what things should happen unto him,
- Saying, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles:
- And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him: and the third day he shall rise again.
- And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, come unto him, saying, Master, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall desire.
- And he said unto them, What would ye that I should do for you?

- さて， 一行は， エルサレム に 上る 途中にあった． イエス は 先頭に 立って 步いて 行かれた． 弟子たちは 驚き， また， あとについて 行く 者たちは 恐れを 覺えた． すると， イエス は 再び 十二弟子をそばに 呼んで， ご 自分に 起ころうとしていることを， 話し 始められた．
- 「さあ， これから， わたしたちは エルサレム に 向かって 行きます． 人の 子は， 祭司長， 律法學者たちに 引き 渡されるのです． 彼らは， 人の 子を 死刑に 定め， そして， 異邦人に 引き 渡します．
- すると 彼らはあざけり， つばきをかけ， むち 打ち， ついに 殺します． しかし， 人の 子は 三日の 後に， よみがえります． 」
- さて， ゼベダイ のふたりの 子， ヤコブ と ヨハネ が， イエス のところに 來て 言った． 「先生． 私たちの 賴み 事をかなえていただきたいと 思います． 」
- イエス は 彼らに 言われた． 「何をしてほしいのですか． 」

- They said unto him, Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory.
- But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?
- And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them, Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized:
- But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give; but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared.
- And when the ten heard it, they began to be much displeased with James and John.

- 彼らは 言った． 「あなたの 榮光の 座で， ひとりを 先生の 右に， ひとりを 左にすわらせてください． 」
- しかし， イエス は 彼らに 言われた． 「あなたがたは 自分が 何を 求めているのか， わかっていないのです． あなたがたは， わたしの 飮もうとする 杯を 飮み， わたしの 受けようとする バプテスマ を 受けることができますか． 」
- 彼らは「できます． 」と 言った． イエス は 言われた． 「なるほどあなたがたは， わたしの 飮む 杯を 飮み， わたしの 受けるべき バプテスマ を 受けはします．
- しかし， わたしの 右と 左にすわることは， わたしが 許すことではありません． それに 備えられた 人¿があるのです． 」
- 十人の 者がこのことを 聞くと， ヤコブ と ヨハネ のことで 腹を 立てた．

- But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them.
- But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister:
- And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.
- For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

- そこで， イエス は 彼らを 呼び 寄せて， 言われた． 「あなたがたも 知っているとおり， 異邦人の 支配者と 認められた 者たちは 彼らを 支配し， また， 偉い 人たちは 彼らの 上に 權力をふるいます．
- しかし， あなたがたの 間では， そうでありません． あなたがたの 間で 偉くなりたいと 思う 者は， みなに 仕える 者になりなさい．
- あなたがたの 間で 人の 先に 立ちたいと 思う 者は， みなのしもべになりなさい．
- 人の 子が 來たのも， 仕えられるためではなく， かえって 仕えるためであり， また， 多くの 人のための， ·いの 代價として， 自分のいのちを 與えるためなのです． 」
