- Hear this, all ye people; give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world:
- Both low and high, rich and poor, together.
- My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.
- I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my dark saying upon the harp.
- Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity of my heels shall compass me about?

- すべての 國¿の 民よ． これを 聞け． 世界に 住むすべての 者よ． 耳を 傾けよ．
- 低い 者も， 尊い 者も， 富む 者も， 貧しい 者も， ともどもに．
- 私の 口は 知惠を 語り， 私の 心は 英知を 告げる．
- 私はたとえに 耳を 傾け， 立琴に 合わせて 私のなぞを 解き 明かそう．
- どうして 私は， わざわいの 日に， 恐れなければならないのか． 私を 取り 圍んで 中傷する 者の 惡意を．

- They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;
- None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:
- (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:)
- That he should still live for ever, and not see corruption.
- For he seeth that wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others.

- おのれの 財産に 信賴する 者どもや， 豊かな 富を 誇る 者どもを．
- 人は 自分の 兄弟をも 買い 戾すことはできない． 自分の 身のしろ 金を 神に 拂うことはできない．

- 人はとこしえまでも 生きながらえるであろうか． 墓を 見ないであろうか．
- 彼は 見る． 知惠のある 者たちが 死に， 愚か 者もまぬけ 者もひとしく 滅び， 自分の 財産を 他人に 殘すのを．

- Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names.
- Nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish.

- 彼らは， 心の 中で， 彼らの 家は 永遠に 續き， その 住まいは 代¿にまで 及ぶと 思い， 自分たちの 土地に， 自分たちの 名をつける．
