- Then took they him, and led him, and brought him into the high priest's house. And Peter followed afar off.
- And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the hall, and were set down together, Peter sat down among them.
- But a certain maid beheld him as he sat by the fire, and earnestly looked upon him, and said, This man was also with him.
- And he denied him, saying, Woman, I know him not.
- And after a little while another saw him, and said, Thou art also of them. And Peter said, Man, I am not.

- 彼らは イエス を 捕え， 引いて 行って， 大祭司の 家に 連れて 來た． ペテロ は， 遠く 離れてついて 行った．
- 彼らは 中庭の 眞中に 火をたいて， みなすわり ¿んだので， ペテロ も 中に 混じって 腰をおろした．
- すると， 女中が， 火あかりの 中に ペテロ のすわっているのを 見つけ， まじまじと 見て 言った． 「この 人も， イエス といっしょにいました． 」
- ところが， ペテロ はそれを 打ち 消して， 「いいえ， 私はあの 人を 知りません． 」と 言った．
- しばらくして， ほかの 男が 彼を 見て， 「あなたも， 彼らの 仲間だ． 」と 言った． しかし， ペテロ は， 「いや， 違います． 」と 言った．

- And about the space of one hour after another confidently affirmed, saying, Of a truth this fellow also was with him: for he is a Galilaean.
- And Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while he yet spake, the cock crew.
- And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.
- And Peter went out, and wept bitterly.
- And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and smote him.

- それから 一時間ほどたつと， また 別の 男が， 「確かにこの 人も 彼といっしょだった． この 人も ガリラヤ 人だから． 」と 言い 張った．
- しかし ペテロ は， 「あなたの 言うことは 私にはわかりません． 」と 言った． それといっしょに， 彼がまだ 言い 終えないうちに， 鷄が 鳴いた．
- 主が 振り 向いて ペテロ を 見つめられた． ペテロ は， 「きょう， 鷄が 鳴くまでに， あなたは， 三度わたしを 知らないと 言う． 」と 言われた 主のおことばを 思い 出した．
- 彼は， 外に 出て， 激しく 泣いた．
- さて， イエス の 監視人どもは， イエス をからかい， むちでたたいた．

- And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that smote thee?
- And many other things blasphemously spake they against him.
- And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together, and led him into their council, saying,
- Art thou the Christ? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, ye will not believe:
- And if I also ask you, ye will not answer me, nor let me go.

- そして 目隱しをして， 「言い 當ててみろ． 今たたいたのはだれか． 」と 聞いたりした．
- また， そのほかさまざまな 惡口を イエス に 浴びせた．
- 夜が 明けると， 民の 長老會， それに 祭司長， 律法學者たちが， 集まった． 彼らは イエス を 議會に 連れ 出し，
- こう 言った． 「あなたが キリスト なら， そうだと 言いなさい． 」しかし イエス は 言われた． 「わたしが 言っても， あなたがたは 決して 信じないでしょうし，
- わたしが 尋ねても， あなたがたは 決して 答えないでしょう．

- Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God.
- Then said they all, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said unto them, Ye say that I am.
- And they said, What need we any further witness? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth.

- しかし 今から 後， 人の 子は， 神の 大能の 右の 座に 着きます． 」
- 彼らはみなで 言った． 「ではあなたは 神の 子ですか． 」すると， イエス は 彼らに「あなたがたの 言うとおり， わたしはそれです． 」と 言われた．
- すると 彼らは「これでもまだ 證人が 必要でしょうか． 私たち 自身が 彼の 口から 直接それを 聞いたのだから． 」と 言った．
