- After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias.
- And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased.
- And Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples.
- And the passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh.
- When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?

- その 後， イエス は ガリラヤ の 湖， すなわち， テベリヤ の 湖の 向こう 岸へ 行かれた．
- 大ぜいの 人の 群れが イエス につき 從っていた． それは イエス が 病人たちになさっていたしるしを 見たからである．
- イエス は 山に 登り， 弟子たちとともにそこにすわられた．
- さて， ユダヤ 人の 祭りである 過越が 間近になっていた．
- イエス は 目を 上げて， 大ぜいの 人の 群れがご 自分のほうに 來るのを 見て， ピリポ に 言われた． 「どこから パン を 買って 來て， この 人¿に 食べさせようか． 」

- And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.
- Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.
- One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto him,
- There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?
- And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.

- もっとも， イエス は， ピリポ をためしてこう 言われたのであった． イエス は， ご 自分では， しようとしていることを 知っておられたからである．
- ピリポ は イエス に 答えた． 「めいめいが 少しずつ 取るにしても， 二百 デナリ の パン では 足りません． 」
- 弟子のひとり シモン · ペテロ の 兄弟 アンデレ が イエス に 言った．
- 「ここに 少年が 大麥の パン を 五つと 小さい 魚を 二匹持っています． しかし， こんなに 大ぜいの 人¿では， それが 何になりましょう． 」
- イエス は 言われた． 「人¿をすわらせなさい． 」その 場所には 草が 多かった． そこで 男たちはすわった． その 數はおよそ 五千人であった．

- And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.
- When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.
- Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.
- Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.
- When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.

- そこで， イエス は パン を 取り， 感謝をささげてから， すわっている 人¿に 分けてやられた． また， 小さい 魚も 同じようにして， 彼らにほしいだけ 分けられた．
- そして， 彼らが 十分食べたとき， 弟子たちに 言われた． 「余った パン 切れを， 一つもむだに 捨てないように 集めなさい． 」
- 彼らは 集めてみた． すると， 大麥の パン 五つから 出て 來た パン 切れを， 人¿が 食べたうえ， なお 余ったもので 十二のかごがいっぱいになった．
- 人¿は， イエス のなさったしるしを 見て， 「まことに， この 方こそ， 世に 來られるはずの 預言者だ． 」と 言った．
- そこで， イエス は， 人¿が 自分を 王とするために， むりやりに 連れて 行こうとしているのを 知って， ただひとり， また 山に 退かれた．

- And when even was now come, his disciples went down unto the sea,
- And entered into a ship, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them.
- And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew.
- So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid.
- But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid.

- 夕方になって， 弟子たちは 湖畔に 降りて 行った．
- そして， 舟に 乘り ¿み， カペナウム のほうへ 湖を 渡っていた． すでに 暗くなっていたが， イエス はまだ 彼らのところに 來ておられなかった．
- 湖は 吹きまくる 强風に 荒れ 始めた．
- こうして， 四， 五 キロメ ― トル ほどこぎ 出したころ， 彼らは， イエス が 湖の 上を 步いて 舟に 近づいて 來られるのを 見て， 恐れた．
- しかし， イエス は 彼らに 言われた． 「わたしだ． 恐れることはない． 」

- Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land whither they went.

- それで 彼らは， イエス を 喜んで 舟に 迎えた． 舟はほどなく 目的の 地に 着いた．
