	열왕기상 3:1-4:34 일천 번제를 드리며 헌신을 다짐하는 솔로몬에게 하나님께서는 그가 구한 지혜와 함께 부와 영광도 주셨다. 솔로몬은 인재를 등용해 신하로 삼고 각지방을 다스리는 12장관을 세움으로써 평화롭고 부강한 왕국을 이루어 나갔다. 이러한 솔로몬의 지혜와 부요함은 세상에 널리 알려졌다.

	솔로몬의 지혜(3:1-3:28)

And Solomon made affinity with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and took Pharaoh's daughter, and brought her into the city of David, until he had made an end of building his own house, and the house of the LORD, and the wall of Jerusalem round about.

Only the people sacrificed in high places, because there was no house built unto the name of the LORD, until those days.

And Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places.

And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar.

In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.

ソロモンはエジプトの王パロと互いに緣を結び，パロの娘をめとって，彼女をダビデの町に連れて來，自分の家と主の宮，および，エルサレムの回りの城壁を建て終わるまで，そこにおらせた．

當時はまだ，主の名のための宮が建てられていなかったので，民はただ，高きところでいけにえをささげていた．

And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.

And now, O LORD my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in.

And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.

Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?

And the speech pleased the LORD, that Solomon had asked this thing.

ソロモンは言った．「あなたは，あなたのしもべ，私の父ダビデに大いなる惠みを施されました．それは，彼が誠實と正義と眞心とをもって，あなたの御前を步んだからです．あなたは，この大いなる惠みを彼のために取っておき，きょう，その王座に着く子を彼にお與えになりました．

わが神，主よ．今，あなたは私の父ダビデに代わって，このしもべを王とされました．しかし，私は小さい子どもで，出入りするすべを知りません．

そのうえ，しもべは，あなたの選んだあなたの民の中におります．しかも，彼らはあまりにも多くて，數えることも調べることもできないほど，おびただしい民です．

善惡を判斷してあなたの民をさばくために聞き分ける心をしもべに與えてください．さもなければ，だれに，このおびただしいあなたの民をさばくことができるでしょうか．」

この願い事は主の御心にかなった．ソロモンがこのことを願ったからである．

And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment;

Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.

And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.

And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days.

And Solomon awoke; and, behold, it was a dream. And he came to Jerusalem, and stood before the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and offered up burnt offerings, and offered peace offerings, and made a feast to all his servants.

神は彼に仰せられた．「あなたがこのことを求め，自分のために長壽を求めず，自分のために富を求めず，あなたの敵のいのちをも求めず，むしろ，自分のために正しい訴えを聞き分ける判斷力を求めたので，

今，わたしはあなたの言ったとおりにする．見よ．わたしはあなたに知惠の心と判斷する心とを與える．あなたの先に，あなたのような者はなかった．また，あなたのあとに，あなたのような者も起こらない．

そのうえ，あなたの願わなかったもの，富と譽れとをあなたに與える．あなたの生きているかぎり，王たちの中であなたに ¿ぶ者はひとりもないであろう．

また，あなたの父ダビデが步んだように，あなたもわたしのおきてと命令を守って，わたしの道を步むなら，あなたの日を長くしよう．」

ソロモンが目をさますと，なんと，それは夢であった．そこで，彼はエルサレムに行き，主の契約の箱の前に立って，全燒のいけにえをささげ，和解のいけにえをささげ，すべての家來たちを招いて祝宴を開いた．

Then came there two women, that were harlots, unto the king, and stood before him.

And the one woman said, O my lord, I and this woman dwell in one house; and I was delivered of a child with her in the house.

And it came to pass the third day after that I was delivered, that this woman was delivered also: and we were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, save we two in the house.

And this woman's child died in the night; because she overlaid it.

And she arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, while thine handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom.

そのころ，ふたりの遊女が王のところに來て，その前に立った．

ひとりの女が言った．「わが君．私とこの女とは同じ家に住んでおります．私はこの女といっしょに家にいるとき子どもを産みました．

ところが，私が子どもを産んで三日たつと，この女も子どもを産みました．家には私たちのほか，だれもいっしょにいた者はなく，家にはただ私たちふたりだけでした．

ところが，夜の間に，この女の産んだ子が死にました．この女が自分の子の上に伏したからです．

この女は夜中に起きて，はしためが眠っている間に，私のそばから私の子を取って，自分のふところに抱いて寢かせ，自分の死んだ子を私のふところに寢かせたのです．

And when I rose in the morning to give my child suck, behold, it was dead: but when I had considered it in the morning, behold, it was not my son, which I did bear.

And the other woman said, Nay; but the living is my son, and the dead is thy son. And this said, No; but the dead is thy son, and the living is my son. Thus they spake before the king.

Then said the king, The one saith, This is my son that liveth, and thy son is the dead: and the other saith, Nay; but thy son is the dead, and my son is the living.

And the king said, Bring me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king.

And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other.

朝，私が子どもに乳を飮ませようとして起きてみると，どうでしょう，子どもは死んでいるではありませんか．朝，その子をよく見てみると，まあ，その子は私が産んだ子ではないのです．

すると，もうひとりの女が言った．「いいえ，生きているのが私の子で，死んでいるのはあなたの子です．」先の女は言った．「いいえ，死んだのがあなたの子で，生きているのが私の子です．」こうして，女たちは王の前で言い合った．

そこで王は言った．「ひとりは『生きているのが私の子で，死んでいるのはあなたの子だ．』と言い，また，もうひとりは『いや，死んだのがあなたの子で，生きているのが私の子だ．』と言う．」

そして，王は，「劍をここに持って來なさい．」と命じた．劍が王の前に持って來られると，

王は言った．「生きている子どもを二つに斷ち切り，半分をこちらに，半分をそちらに與えなさい．」

Then spake the woman whose the living child was unto the king, for her bowels yearned upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it. But the other said, Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide it.

Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and in no wise slay it: she is the mother thereof.

And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment.

すると，生きている子の母親は，自分の子を哀れに思って胸が熱くなり，王に申し立てて言った．「わが君．どうか，その生きている子をあの女にあげてください．決してその子を殺さないでください．」しかし，もうひとりの女は，「それを私のものにも，あなたのものにもしないで，斷ち切ってください．」と言った．

そこで王は宣告を下して言った．「生きている子どもを初めの女に與えなさい．決してその子を殺してはならない．彼女がその子の母親なのだ．」

イスラエル人はみな，王が下したさばきを聞いて，王を恐れた．神の知惠が彼のうちにあって，さばきをするのを見たからである．

	솔로몬의 번영(4:1-4:34)

So king Solomon was king over all Israel.

And these were the princes which he had; Azariah the son of Zadok the priest,

Elihoreph and Ahiah, the sons of Shisha, scribes; Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud, the recorder.

And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the host: and Zadok and Abiathar were the priests:

And Azariah the son of Nathan was over the officers: and Zabud the son of Nathan was principal officer, and the king's friend:

こうして，ソロモン王は全イスラエルの王となった．

彼の高官たちは次のとおり．ツァドクの子アザルヤは祭司．

And Ahishar was over the household: and Adoniram the son of Abda was over the tribute.

And Solomon had twelve officers over all Israel, which provided victuals for the king and his household: each man his month in a year made provision.

And these are their names: The son of Hur, in mount Ephraim:

The son of Dekar, in Makaz, and in Shaalbim, and Bethshemesh, and Elonbethhanan:

The son of Hesed, in Aruboth; to him pertained Sochoh, and all the land of Hepher:

アヒシャルは宮內長官．アブダの子アドニラムは役務長官．

ソロモンは，イスラエルの全土に十二人の守護を置いた．彼らは王とその一族に食糧を納めていた．すなわち，一年に一か月間，おのおの食糧を納めていた．

彼らの名は次のとおり．エフライムの山地にはフルの子．

マカツ，シャアルビム，ベテ · シェメシュ，エロン · ベテ · ハナンにはデケルの子．

アルボテにはヘセデの子． ··彼にはソコとヘフェルの全地が任せられていた． ··

The son of Abinadab, in all the region of Dor; which had Taphath the daughter of Solomon to wife:

Baana the son of Ahilud; to him pertained Taanach and Megiddo, and all Bethshean, which is by Zartanah beneath Jezreel, from Bethshean to Abelmeholah, even unto the place that is beyond Jokneam:

The son of Geber, in Ramothgilead; to him pertained the towns of Jair the son of Manasseh, which are in Gilead; to him also pertained the region of Argob, which is in Bashan, threescore great cities with walls and brasen bars:

Ahinadab the son of Iddo had Mahanaim:

Ahimaaz was in Naphtali; he also took Basmath the daughter of Solomon to wife:

Baanah the son of Hushai was in Asher and in Aloth:

Jehoshaphat the son of Paruah, in Issachar:

Shimei the son of Elah, in Benjamin:

Geber the son of Uri was in the country of Gilead, in the country of Sihon king of the Amorites, and of Og king of Bashan; and he was the only officer which was in the land.

Judah and Israel were many, as the sand which is by the sea in multitude, eating and drinking, and making merry.

アシェルとベアロテにはフシャイの子バアナ．

イッサカルにはパルアハの子ヨシャパテ．

ベニヤミンにはエラの子シムイ．

エモリ人の王シホンと，バシャンの王オグの領地であったギルアデの地にはウリの子ゲベル．その地にはもうひとりの守備隊長がいた．

ユダとイスラエルの人口は，海邊の砂のように多くなり，彼らは飮み食いして樂しんでいた．

And Solomon reigned over all kingdoms from the river unto the land of the Philistines, and unto the border of Egypt: they brought presents, and served Solomon all the days of his life.

And Solomon's provision for one day was thirty measures of fine flour, and threescore measures of meal,

Ten fat oxen, and twenty oxen out of the pastures, and an hundred sheep, beside harts, and roebucks, and fallowdeer, and fatted fowl.

For he had dominion over all the region on this side the river, from Tiphsah even to Azzah, over all the kings on this side the river: and he had peace on all sides round about him.

And Judah and Israel dwelt safely, every man under his vine and under his fig tree, from Dan even to Beersheba, all the days of Solomon.

ソロモンは，大河からペリシテ人の地，さらには，エジプトの國境に至るすべての王國を支配した．これらの王國は，ソロモンの一生の間みつぎものを持って來て，彼に仕えた．

ソロモンの一日分の食糧は，小麥粉三十コル，大麥粉六十コル．

それに，肥えた牛十頭，放牧の牛二十頭，羊百頭．そのほか，雄鹿，かもしか，のろじかと，肥えた鳥であった．

これはソロモンが，大河の西側，ティフサフからガザまでの全土，すなわち，大河の西側のすべての王たちを支配し，周邊のすべての地方に平和があったからである．

ユダとイスラエルは，ソロモンの治世中，ダンからベエル · シェバまで，みな，おのおの自分のぶどうの木の下や，いちじくの木の下で安心して住むことができた．

And Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen.

And those officers provided victual for king Solomon, and for all that came unto king Solomon's table, every man in his month: they lacked nothing.

Barley also and straw for the horses and dromedaries brought they unto the place where the officers were, every man according to his charge.

And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.

And Solomon's wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east country, and all the wisdom of Egypt.

ソロモンは戰車用の馬のための馬屋四万，騎兵一万二千を持っていた．

守護たちは，それぞれ自分の當番月にソロモン王，およびソロモン王の食事の席に連なるすべての者たちのために，食糧を納め，不足させなかった．

For he was wiser than all men; than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol: and his fame was in all nations round about.

And he spake three thousand proverbs: and his songs were a thousand and five.

And he spake of trees, from the cedar tree that is in Lebanon even unto the hyssop that springeth out of the wall: he spake also of beasts, and of fowl, and of creeping things, and of fishes.

And there came of all people to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth, which had heard of his wisdom.

彼は，すべての人，すなわち，エズラフ人エタンや，ヘマンや，カルコルや，マホルの子ダルダよりも知惠があった．それで，彼の名聲は周邊のすべての國¿に廣がった．

彼は三千の ·言を語り，彼の歌は一千五首もあった．

彼はレバノンの杉の木から，石垣に生えるヒソプに至るまでの草木について語り， ¿や鳥やはうものや魚についても語った．

ソロモンの知惠を聞くために，すべての國の人¿や，彼の知惠のうわさを聞いた國のすべての王たちがやって來た．
