- And when it was determined that we should sail into Italy, they delivered Paul and certain other prisoners unto one named Julius, a centurion of Augustus' band.
- And entering into a ship of Adramyttium, we launched, meaning to sail by the coasts of Asia; one Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica, being with us.
- And the next day we touched at Sidon. And Julius courteously entreated Paul, and gave him liberty to go unto his friends to refresh himself.
- And when we had launched from thence, we sailed under Cyprus, because the winds were contrary.
- And when we had sailed over the sea of Cilicia and Pamphylia, we came to Myra, a city of Lycia.

- さて， 私たちが 船で イタリヤ へ 行くことが 決まったとき， パウロ と， ほかの 數人の 囚人は， ユリアス という 親衛隊の 百人隊長に 引き 渡された．
- 私たちは， アジヤ の 沿岸の 各地に 寄港して 行く アドラミテオ の 船に 乘り ¿んで 出帆した． テサロニケ の マケドニヤ 人 アリスタルコ も 同行した．
- 翌日， シドン に 入港した． ユリアス は パウロ を 親切に 取り 扱い， 友人たちのところへ 行って， もてなしを 受けることを 許した．
- そこから 出帆したが， 向かい 風なので， キプロス の 島陰を 航行した．
- そして キリキヤ と パンフリヤ の 沖を 航行して， ルキヤ の ミラ に 入港した．

- And there the centurion found a ship of Alexandria sailing into Italy; and he put us therein.
- And when we had sailed slowly many days, and scarce were come over against Cnidus, the wind not suffering us, we sailed under Crete, over against Salmone;
- And, hardly passing it, came unto a place which is called The fair havens; nigh whereunto was the city of Lasea.
- Now when much time was spent, and when sailing was now dangerous, because the fast was now already past, Paul admonished them,
- And said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives.

- そこに， イタリヤ へ 行く アレキサンドリヤ の 船があったので， 百人隊長は 私たちをそれに 乘り ¿ませた．
- 幾日かの 間， 船の 進みはおそく， ようやくのことで クニド の 沖に 着いたが， 風のためにそれ 以上進むことができず， サルモネ 沖の クレテ の 島陰を 航行し，
- その 岸に 沿って 進みながら， ようやく， 良い 港と 呼ばれる 所に 着いた． その 近くに ラサヤ の 町があった．
- かなりの 日數が 經過しており， 斷食の 季節もすでに 過ぎていたため， もう 航海は 危險であったので， パウロ は 人¿に 注意して，
- 「皆さん． この 航海では， きっと， 積荷や 船體だけではなく， 私たちの 生命にも， 危害と 大きな 損失が 及ぶと， 私は 考えます． 」と 言った．

- Nevertheless the centurion believed the master and the owner of the ship, more than those things which were spoken by Paul.
- And because the haven was not commodious to winter in, the more part advised to depart thence also, if by any means they might attain to Phenice, and there to winter; which is an haven of Crete, and lieth toward the south west and north west.
- And when the south wind blew softly, supposing that they had obtained their purpose, loosing thence, they sailed close by Crete.
- But not long after there arose against it a tempestuous wind, called Euroclydon.
- And when the ship was caught, and could not bear up into the wind, we let her drive.

- しかし 百人隊長は， パウロ のことばよりも， 航海士や 船長のほうを 信用した．
- また， この 港が 冬を 過ごすのに 適していなかったので， 大多數の 者の 意見は， ここを 出帆して， できれば 何とかして， 南西と 北西とに 面している クレテ の 港 ピニクス まで 行って， そこで 冬を 過ごしたいということになった．
- おりから， 穩やかな 南風が 吹いて 來ると， 人¿はこの 時とばかり 錨を 上げて， クレテ の 海岸に 沿って 航行した．
- ところが， まもなく ユ ― ラクロン という 暴風が 陸から 吹きおろして 來て，
- 船はそれに 卷き ¿まれ， 風に 逆らって 進むことができないので， しかたなく 吹き 流されるままにした．

- And running under a certain island which is called Clauda, we had much work to come by the boat:
- Which when they had taken up, they used helps, undergirding the ship; and, fearing lest they should fall into the quicksands, strake sail, and so were driven.
- And we being exceedingly tossed with a tempest, the next day they lightened the ship;
- And the third day we cast out with our own hands the tackling of the ship.
- And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken away.

- しかし クラウダ という 小さな 島の 陰にはいったので， ようやくのことで 小舟を 處置することができた．
- 小舟を 船に 引き 上げ， 備え 綱で 船體を 卷いた． また， スルテス の 淺瀨に 乘り 上げるのを 恐れて， 船具をはずして 流れるに 任せた．
- 私たちは 暴風に 激しく 飜弄されていたので， 翌日， 人¿は 積荷を 捨て 始め，
- 三日目には， 自分の 手で 船具までも 投げ 捨てた．
- 太陽も 星も 見えない 日が 幾日も 續き， 激しい 暴風が 吹きまくるので， 私たちが 助かる 最後の 望みも 今や 絶たれようとしていた．

- But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss.
- And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man's life among you, but of the ship.
- For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve,
- Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee.
- Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.

- だれも 長いこと 食事をとらなかったが， そのとき パウロ が 彼らの 中に 立って， こう 言った． 「皆さん． あなたがたは 私の 忠告を 聞き 入れて， クレテ を 出帆しなかったら， こんな 危害や 損失をこうむらなくて 濟んだのです．
- しかし， 今， お 勸めします． 元氣を 出しなさい． あなたがたのうち， いのちを 失う 者はひとりもありません． 失われるのは 船だけです．
- 昨夜， 私の 主で， 私の 仕えている 神の 御使いが， 私の 前に 立って，
- こう 言いました． 『恐れてはいけません． パウロ ． あなたは 必ず カイザル の 前に 立ちます． そして， 神はあなたと 同船している 人¿をみな， あなたにお 與えになったのです． 』
- ですから， 皆さん． 元氣を 出しなさい． すべて 私に 告げられたとおりになると， 私は 神によって 信じています．

- Howbeit we must be cast upon a certain island.

- 私たちは 必ず， どこかの 島に 打ち 上げられます． 」
