- What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.
- For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
- So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.
- For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.
- Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.

- それでは， どういうことになりますか． 神に 不正があるのですか． 絶對にそんなことはありません．
- 神は モ ― セ に， 「わたしは 自分のあわれむ 者をあわれみ， 自分のいつくしむ 者をいつくしむ． 」と 言われました．
- したがって， 事は 人間の 願いや 努力によるのではなく， あわれんでくださる 神によるのです．
- 聖書は パロ に， 「わたしがあなたを 立てたのは， あなたにおいてわたしの 力を 示し， わたしの 名を 全世界に 告げ 知らせるためである． 」と 言っています．
- こういうわけで， 神は， 人をみこころのままにあわれみ， またみこころのままにかたくなにされるのです．

- Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will?
- Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?
- Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?
- What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:
- And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,

- すると， あなたはこう 言うでしょう． 「それなのになぜ， 神は 人を 責められるのですか． だれが 神のご 計畵に 逆らうことができましょう． 」
- しかし， 人よ． 神に 言い 逆らうあなたは， いったい 何ですか． 形造られた 者が 形造った 者に 對して， 「あなたはなぜ， 私をこのようなものにしたのですか． 」と 言えるでしょうか．
- 陶器を 作る 者は， 同じ 土のかたまりから， 尊いことに 用いる 器でも， また， つまらないことに 用いる 器でも 作る 權利を 持っていないのでしょうか．
- ですが， もし 神が， 怒りを 示してご 自分の 力を 知らせようと 望んでおられるのに， その 滅ぼされるべき 怒りの 器を， 豊かな 寬容をもって 忍耐してくださったとしたら， どうでしょうか．
- それも， 神が 榮光のためにあらかじめ 用意しておられたあわれみの 器に 對して， その 豊かな 榮光を 知らせてくださるためになのです．

- Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?
- As he saith also in Osee, I will call them my people, which were not my people; and her beloved, which was not beloved.
- And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people; there shall they be called the children of the living God.
- Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:
- For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.

- 神は， このあわれみの 器として， 私たちを， ユダヤ 人の 中からだけでなく， 異邦人の 中からも 召してくださったのです．
- それは， ホセア の 書でも 言っておられるとおりです． 「わたしは， わが 民でない 者をわが 民と 呼び， 愛さなかった 者を 愛する 者と 呼ぶ．
- 『あなたがたは， わたしの 民ではない． 』と， わたしが 言ったその 場所で， 彼らは， 生ける 神の 子どもと 呼ばれる． 」
- また， イスラエル については， イザヤ がこう 叫んでいます． 「たとい イスラエル の 子どもたちの 數は， 海 ベ の 砂のようであっても， 救われるのは， 殘された 者である．
- 主は， みことばを 完全に， しかも 敏速に， 地上に 成し 遂げられる． 」

- And as Esaias said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, we had been as Sodoma, and been made like unto Gomorrha.

- また， イザヤ がこう 預言したとおりです． 「もし 万軍の 主が， 私たちに 子孫を 殘されなかったら， 私たちは ソドム のようになり， ゴモラ と 同じものとされたであろう． 」
