느헤미야 5:1-6:19

 성벽 공사가 어렵게 진행되는 동안 백성들 사이에서 취리 행위로 인한 문제가 발생하였고, 백성들은 부르짖어 불평하였다. 이에 느헤미야는 취리 행위를 금지시키고 발생한 문제들을 해결하였다. 또한 대적들은 느헤미야를 죽이려는 음모를 꾸몄으나 실패로 돌아갔다. 성벽 건축은 완료되었다.
  
  가난한 자들을 도움(5:1-5:19)    
 
  1. And there was a great cry of the people and of their wives against their brethren the Jews.
  2. For there were that said, We, our sons, and our daughters, are many: therefore we take up corn for them, that we may eat, and live.
  3. Some also there were that said, We have mortgaged our lands, vineyards, and houses, that we might buy corn, because of the dearth.
  4. There were also that said, We have borrowed money for the king's tribute, and that upon our lands and vineyards.
  5. Yet now our flesh is as the flesh of our brethren, our children as their children: and, lo, we bring into bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants, and some of our daughters are brought unto bondage already: neither is it in our power to redeem them; for other men have our lands and vineyards.
  1. ときに， 民とその 妻たちは， その 同胞の ユダヤ 人たちに 對して 强い 抗議の 聲をあげた．
  2. ある 者は， 「私たちには 息子や 娘が 大ぜいいる． 私たちは， 食べて 生きるために， 穀物を 手に 入れなければならない． 」と 言い，
  3. またある 者は， 「このききんに 際し， 穀物を 手に 入れるために， 私たちの 畑も， ぶどう 畑も， 家も 抵當に 入れなければならない． 」と 言った．
  4. またある 者は 言った． 「私たちは， 王に 支拂う 稅金のために， 私たちの 畑とぶどう 畑をかたにして， 金を 借りなければならなかった．
  5. 現に， 私たちの 肉は 私たちの 兄弟の 肉と 同じであり， 私たちの 子どもも 彼らの 子どもと 同じなのだ． それなのに， 今， 私たちは 自分たちの 息子や 娘を 奴隷に 賣らなければならない． 事實， 私たちの 娘で， もう 奴隷にされている 者もいる． しかし， 私たちの 畑もぶどう 畑も 他人の 所有となっているので， 私たちにはどうする 力もない． 」
  1. And I was very angry when I heard their cry and these words.
  2. Then I consulted with myself, and I rebuked the nobles, and the rulers, and said unto them, Ye exact usury, every one of his brother. And I set a great assembly against them.
  3. And I said unto them, We after our ability have redeemed our brethren the Jews, which were sold unto the heathen; and will ye even sell your brethren? or shall they be sold unto us? Then held they their peace, and found nothing to answer.
  4. Also I said, It is not good that ye do: ought ye not to walk in the fear of our God because of the reproach of the heathen our enemies?
  5. I likewise, and my brethren, and my servants, might exact of them money and corn: I pray you, let us leave off this usury.
  1. 私は 彼らの 不平と， これらのことばを 聞いて， 非常に 怒った．
  2. 私は 十分考えたうえで， おもだった 者たちや 代表者たちを 非難して 言った． 「あなたがたはみな， 自分の 兄弟たちに， 擔保を 取って 金を 貸している． 」と． 私は 大集會を 開いて 彼らを 責め，
  3. 彼らに 言った． 「私たちは， 異邦人に 賣られた 私たちの 兄弟， ユダヤ 人を， できるかぎり 買い 取った． それなのに， あなたがたはまた， 自分の 兄弟たちを 賣ろうとしている． 私たちが 彼らを 買わなければならないのだ． 」すると， 彼らは 默ってしまい， 一言も 言いだせなかった．
  4. 私は 言い 續けた． 「あなたがたのしていることは 良くない． あなたがたは， 私たちの 敵である 異邦人のそしりを 受けないために， 私たちの 神を 恐れながら 步むべきではないか．
  5. 私も， 私の 親類の 者も， 私に 仕える 若い 者たちも， 彼らに 金や 穀物を 貸してやったが， 私たちはその 負債を 帳消しにしよう．
  1. Restore, I pray you, to them, even this day, their lands, their vineyards, their oliveyards, and their houses, also the hundredth part of the money, and of the corn, the wine, and the oil, that ye exact of them.
  2. Then said they, We will restore them, and will require nothing of them; so will we do as thou sayest. Then I called the priests, and took an oath of them, that they should do according to this promise.
  3. Also I shook my lap, and said, So God shake out every man from his house, and from his labour, that performeth not this promise, even thus be he shaken out, and emptied. And all the congregation said, Amen, and praised the LORD. And the people did according to this promise.
  4. Moreover from the time that I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, from the twentieth year even unto the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes the king, that is, twelve years, I and my brethren have not eaten the bread of the governor.
  5. But the former governors that had been before me were chargeable unto the people, and had taken of them bread and wine, beside forty shekels of silver; yea, even their servants bare rule over the people: but so did not I, because of the fear of God.
  1. だから， あなたがたも， きょう， 彼らの 畑， ぶどう 畑， オリ ― ブ 畑， 家， それにまた， あなたがたが 彼らに 貸していた 金や， 穀物， 新しいぶどう 酒， 油などの 利子を 彼らに 返してやりなさい． 」
  2. すると 彼らは， 「私たちは 返します． 彼らから 何も 要求しません． 私たちはあなたの 言われるとおりにします． 」と 言った． そこで， 私は 祭司たちを 呼び， 彼らにこの 約束を 實行する 誓いを 立てさせた．
  3. 私はまた， 私のすそを 振って 言った． 「この 約束を 果たさない 者を， ひとり 殘らず， 神がこのように， その 家とその 勤勞の 實とから 振り 落としてくださいますように． このように， その 者は 振り 落とされて， むなしい 者となりますように． 」すると 全集團は， 「ア ― メン ． 」と 言って， 主をほめたたえた． こうして， 民はこの 約束を 實行した．
  4. また， 私が ユダ の 地の 總督として 任命された 時から， すなわち， アルタシャスタ 王の 第二十年から 第三十二年までの 十二年間， 私も 私の 親類も， 總督としての 手當を 受けなかった．
  5. 私の 前任の 總督たちは 民の 負擔を 重くし， 民から， パン とぶどう 酒のために 取り 立て， そのうえ， 銀四十 シェケル を 取った． しかも， 彼らに 仕える 若い 者たちは 民にいばりちらした． しかし， 私は 神を 恐れて， そのようなことはしなかった．
  1. Yea, also I continued in the work of this wall, neither bought we any land: and all my servants were gathered thither unto the work.
  2. Moreover there were at my table an hundred and fifty of the Jews and rulers, beside those that came unto us from among the heathen that are about us.
  3. Now that which was prepared for me daily was one ox and six choice sheep; also fowls were prepared for me, and once in ten days store of all sorts of wine: yet for all this required not I the bread of the governor, because the bondage was heavy upon this people.
  4. Think upon me, my God, for good, according to all that I have done for this people.
  1. また， 私はこの 城壁の 工事に 專念し， 私たちは 農地を 買わなかった． 私に 仕える 若い 者たちはみな， 工事に 集まっていた．
  2. ユダヤ 人の 代表者たち 百五十人と， 私たちの 回りの 國¿から 來る 者が， 私の 食卓についていた．
  3. それで， 一日に 牛一頭， えり 拔きの 羊六頭が 料理され， 私のためには 鷄が 料理された． それに， 十日ごとに， あらゆる 種類のぶどう 酒をたくさん 用意した． それでも 私は， この 民に 重い 勞役がかかっていたので， 總督としての 手當を 要求しなかった．
  4. 私の 神． どうか 私がこの 民のためにしたすべてのことを 覺えて， 私をいつくしんでください．
 
  대적들의 음모(6:1-6:19)    
 
  1. Now it came to pass when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and Geshem the Arabian, and the rest of our enemies, heard that I had builded the wall, and that there was no breach left therein; (though at that time I had not set up the doors upon the gates;)
  2. That Sanballat and Geshem sent unto me, saying, Come, let us meet together in some one of the villages in the plain of Ono. But they thought to do me mischief.
  3. And I sent messengers unto them, saying, I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?
  4. Yet they sent unto me four times after this sort; and I answered them after the same manner.
  5. Then sent Sanballat his servant unto me in like manner the fifth time with an open letter in his hand;
  1. さて， 私が 城壁を 建て 直し， 破れ 口は 殘されていないということが， サヌバラテ ， トビヤ ， アラブ 人 ゲシェム ， その 他の 私たちの 敵に 聞こえると， ··その 時まで， 私はまだ， 門にとびらを 取りつけていなかった． ··
  2. サヌバラテ と ゲシェム は 私のところに 使いをよこして 言った． 「さあ， オノ の 平地にある 村の 一つで 會見しよう． 」彼らは 私に 害を 加えようとたくらんでいたのである．
  3. そこで， 私は 彼らのところに 使者たちをやって 言った． 「私は 大工事をしているから， 下って 行けない． 私が 工事をそのままにして， あなたがたのところへ 下って 行ったため， 工事が 止まるようなことがあってよいものだろうか． 」
  4. すると， 彼らは 同じようにして， 四度も 私のところに 人をよこした． それで 私も 同じように 彼らに 答えた．
  5. サヌバラテ は 五度目にも 同じようにして， 若い 者を 私のところによこした． その 手には 一通の 開封した 手紙を 持っていた．
  1. Wherein was written, It is reported among the heathen, and Gashmu saith it, that thou and the Jews think to rebel: for which cause thou buildest the wall, that thou mayest be their king, according to these words.
  2. And thou hast also appointed prophets to preach of thee at Jerusalem, saying, There is a king in Judah: and now shall it be reported to the king according to these words. Come now therefore, and let us take counsel together.
  3. Then I sent unto him, saying, There are no such things done as thou sayest, but thou feignest them out of thine own heart.
  4. For they all made us afraid, saying, Their hands shall be weakened from the work, that it be not done. Now therefore, O God, strengthen my hands.
  5. Afterward I came unto the house of Shemaiah the son of Delaiah the son of Mehetabeel, who was shut up; and he said, Let us meet together in the house of God, within the temple, and let us shut the doors of the temple: for they will come to slay thee; yea, in the night will they come to slay thee.
  1. それには 次のように 書いてあった． 「諸國民の 間に 言いふらされ， また， ゲシェム も 言っているが， あなたと ユダヤ 人たちは 反逆をたくらんでおり， そのために， あなたは 城壁を 建て 直している． このうわさによれば， あなたは 彼らの 王になろうとしている．
  2. また， あなたは エルサレム で， 自分について 宣言させるために， 預言者たちを 任命して， 『ユダ に 王がいる． 』と 言わせている． 今にこのようなことが 王に 聞こえるであろう． さあ， 來なさい． いっしょに 相談しよう． 」
  3. そこで， 私は 彼のところに 人をやって 言わせた． 「あなたが 言っているようなことはされていない． あなたはそのことを 自分でかってに 考え 出したのだ． 」と．
  4. 事實， これらのことはみな， 「あの 者たちが 氣力を 失って 工事をやめ， 中止するだろう． 」と 考えて， 私たちをおどすためであった． ああ， 今， 私を 力づけてください．

  1. And I said, Should such a man as I flee? and who is there, that, being as I am, would go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in.
  2. And, lo, I perceived that God had not sent him; but that he pronounced this prophecy against me: for Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him.
  3. Therefore was he hired, that I should be afraid, and do so, and sin, and that they might have matter for an evil report, that they might reproach me.
  4. My God, think thou upon Tobiah and Sanballat according to these their works, and on the prophetess Noadiah, and the rest of the prophets, that would have put me in fear.
  5. So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty and two days.
  1. そこで， 私は 言った． 「私のような 者が 逃げてよいものか． 私のような 者で， だれが 本堂にはいって 生きながらえようか． 私ははいって 行かない． 」
  2. 私にはわかっている． 今， 彼を 遣わしたのは， 神ではない． 彼がこの 預言を 私に 傳えたのは， トビヤ と サヌバラテ が 彼を 買收したからである．
  3. 彼が 買收されたのは， 私が 恐れ， 言われるとおりにして， 私が 罪を 犯すようにするためであり， 彼らの 惡口の 種とし， 私をそしるためであった．
  4. わが 神よ． トビヤ や サヌバラテ のあのしわざと， また， 私を 恐れさせようとした 女預言者 ノアデヤ や， その 他の 預言者たちのしわざを 忘れないでください．
  5. こうして， 城壁は 五十二日かかって， エルル の 月の 二十五日に 完成した．
  1. And it came to pass, that when all our enemies heard thereof, and all the heathen that were about us saw these things, they were much cast down in their own eyes: for they perceived that this work was wrought of our God.
  2. Moreover in those days the nobles of Judah sent many letters unto Tobiah, and the letters of Tobiah came unto them.
  3. For there were many in Judah sworn unto him, because he was the son in law of Shechaniah the son of Arah; and his son Johanan had taken the daughter of Meshullam the son of Berechiah.
  4. Also they reported his good deeds before me, and uttered my words to him. And Tobiah sent letters to put me in fear.
  1. 私たちの 敵がみな， これを 聞いたとき， 私たちの 回りの 諸國民はみな 恐れ， 大いに 面目を 失った． この 工事が， 私たちの 神によってなされたことを 知ったからである．
  2. また， そのころ， ユダ のおもだった 人¿は， トビヤ のところにひんぱんに 手紙を 送っており， トビヤ も 彼らに 返事をしていた．
  3. それは， トビヤ が アラフ の 子 シェカヌヤ の ¿であり， また， トビヤ の 子 ヨハナン も ベレクヤ の 子 メシュラム の 娘を 妻にめとっていたので， 彼と 誓いを 立てていた 者が ユダ の 中に 大ぜいいたからである．
  4. 彼らはまた， 私の 前で トビヤ の 善行を 語り， 私の 言うことを 彼に 傳えていた． トビヤ は 私をおどそうと， たびたび 手紙を 送って 來た．
