- My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
- So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
- Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
- If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
- Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

- わが 子よ． もしあなたが， 私のことばを 受け 入れ， 私の 命令をあなたのうちにたくわえ，
- あなたの 耳を 知惠に 傾け， あなたの 心を 英知に 向けるなら，
- もしあなたが 悟りを 呼び 求め， 英知を 求めて 聲をあげ，
- 銀のように， これを 搜し， 隱された 寶のように， これを 探り 出すなら，
- そのとき， あなたは， 主を 恐れることを 悟り， 神の 知識を 見いだそう．

- For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
- He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.
- He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.
- Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.
- When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;

- 主が 知惠を 與え， 御口を 通して 知識と 英知を 與えられるからだ．
- 彼は 正しい 者のために， すぐれた 知性をたくわえ， 正しく 步む 者の 盾となり，
- 公義の 小道を 保ち， その 聖徒たちの 道を 守る．
- そのとき， あなたは 正義と 公義と 公正と， すべての 良い 道筋を 悟る．
- 知惠があなたの 心にはいり， 知識があなたのたましいを 樂しませるからだ．

- Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:
- To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;

- 思慮があなたを 守り， 英知があなたを 保って，
- 惡の 道からあなたを 救い 出し， ねじれごとを 言う 者からあなたを 救い 出す．
