- But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
- Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
- Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
- For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
- But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

- しかし， 兄弟たち． あなたがたは 暗やみの 中にはいないのですから， その 日が， 盜人のようにあなたがたを 襲うことはありません．
- あなたがたはみな， 光の 子ども， ¿の 子どもだからです． 私たちは， 夜や 暗やみの 者ではありません．
- ですから， ほかの 人¿のように 眠っていないで， 目をさまして， 愼み 深くしていましょう．
- 眠る 者は 夜眠り， 醉う 者は 夜醉うからです．
- しかし， 私たちは ¿の 者なので， 信仰と 愛を 胸當てとして 着け， 救いの 望みをかぶととしてかぶって， 愼み 深くしていましょう．

- For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
- Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
- Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
- And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
- And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.

- 神は， 私たちが 御怒りに 會うようにお 定めになったのではなく， 主 イエス · キリスト にあって 救いを 得るようにお 定めになったからです．
- 主が 私たちのために 死んでくださったのは， 私たちが， 目ざめていても， 眠っていても， 主とともに 生きるためです．
- ですから， あなたがたは， 今しているとおり， 互いに 勵まし 合い， 互いに 德を 高め 合いなさい．
- 兄弟たちよ． あなたがたにお 願いします． あなたがたの 間で 勞苦し， 主にあってあなたがたを 指導し， 訓戒している 人¿を 認めなさい．
- その 務めのゆえに， 愛をもって 深い 尊敬を 拂いなさい． お 互いの 間に 平和を 保ちなさい．

- Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
- See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
- Rejoice evermore.
- Pray without ceasing.
- In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

- 兄弟たち． あなたがたに 勸告します． 氣ままな 者を 戒め， 小心な 者を 勵まし， 弱い 者を 助け， すべての 人に 對して 寬容でありなさい．
- だれも 惡をもって 惡に 報いないように 氣をつけ， お 互いの 間で， またすべての 人に 對して， いつも 善を 行なうよう 務めなさい．
- いつも 喜んでいなさい．
- 絶えず 祈りなさい．
- すべての 事について， 感謝しなさい． これが， キリスト · イエス にあって 神があなたがたに 望んでおられることです．

- Quench not the Spirit.
- Despise not prophesyings.
- Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
- Abstain from all appearance of evil.
- And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

- 御靈を 消してはなりません．
- 預言をないがしろにしてはいけません．
- すべてのことを 見分けて， ほんとうに 良いものを 堅く 守りなさい．
- 惡はどんな 惡でも 避けなさい．
- 平和の 神ご 自身が， あなたがたを 全く 聖なるものとしてくださいますように． 主 イエス · キリスト の 來臨のとき， 責められるところのないように， あなたがたの 靈， たましい， からだが 完全に 守られますように．
