- And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.

- そこで， わが 子よ． キリスト · イエス にある 惠みによって 强くなりなさい．
- 多くの 證人の 前で 私から 聞いたことを， 他の 人にも 敎える 力のある 忠實な 人たちにゆだねなさい．
- キリスト · イエス のりっぱな 兵士として， 私と 苦しみをともにしてください．
- 兵役についていながら， 日常生活のことに 掛かり 合っている 者はだれもありません． それは 徵募した 者を 喜ばせるためです．
- また， 競技をするときも， 規定に 從って 競技をしなければ 榮冠を 得ることはできません．

- The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits.
- Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.
- Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:
- Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.
- Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

- 勞苦した 農夫こそ， まず 第一に 收穫の 分け 前にあずかるべきです．
- 私が 言っていることをよく 考えなさい． 主はすべてのことについて， 理解する 力をあなたに 必ず 與えてくださいます．
- 私の 福音に 言うとおり， ダビデ の 子孫として 生まれ， 死者の 中からよみがえった イエス · キリスト を， いつも 思っていなさい．
- 私は， 福音のために， 苦しみを 受け， 犯罪者のようにつながれています． しかし， 神のことばは， つながれてはいません．
- ですから， 私は 選ばれた 人たちのために， すべてのことを 耐え 忍びます． それは， 彼らもまた キリスト · イエス にある 救いと， それとともに， とこしえの 榮光を 受けるようになるためです．

- It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:
- If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:
- If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
- Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.
- Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

- 次のことばは 信賴すべきことばです． 「もし 私たちが， 彼とともに 死んだのなら， 彼とともに 生きるようになる．
- もし 耐え 忍んでいるなら， 彼とともに 治めるようになる． もし 彼を 否んだなら， 彼もまた 私たちを 否まれる．
- 私たちは 眞實でなくても， 彼は 常に 眞實である． 彼にはご 自身を 否むことができないからである． 」
- これらのことを 人¿に 思い 出させなさい． そして 何の 益にもならず， 聞いている 人¿を 滅ぼすことになるような， ことばについての 論爭などしないように， 神の 御前できびしく 命じなさい．
- あなたは 熟練した 者， すなわち， 眞理のみことばをまっすぐに 說き 明かす， 恥じることのない ¿き 人として， 自分を 神にささげるよう， 努め 勵みなさい．

- But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
- And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;

- 大きな 家には， 金や 銀の 器だけでなく， 木や 土の 器もあります． また， ある 物は 尊いことに， ある 物は 卑しいことに 用います．

- If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

- ですから， だれでも 自分自身をきよめて， これらのことを 離れるなら， その 人は 尊いことに 使われる 器となります． すなわち， 聖められたもの， 主人にとって 有益なもの， あらゆる 良いわざに 間に 合うものとなるのです．
