- A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing.
- For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,
- To call passengers who go right on their ways:
- Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,
- Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.

- 彼女は 自分の 家の 戶口にすわり， 町の 高い 所にある 座にすわり，
- まっすぐに 步いて 行く 往來の 人を 招いて 言う．
- 「わきまえのない 者はだれでもここに 來なさい． 」と． また 思慮に 欠けた 者に 向かって， 彼女は 言う．
- 「盜んだ 水は 甘く， こっそり 食べる 食べ 物はうまい． 」と．
