- A wise son heareth his father's instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.
- A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence.
- He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.
- The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.
- A righteous man hateth lying: but a wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame.

- 知惠のある 子は 父の 訓戒に 從い， あざける 者は 叱責を 聞かない．
- 人はその 口の 實によって 良いものを 食べ， 裏切り 者は 暴虐を 食べる．
- 自分の 口を 見張る 者は 自分のいのちを 守り， くちびるを 大きく 開く 者には 滅びが 來る．
- なまけ 者は 欲を 起こしても 心に 何もない． しかし 勤勉な 者の 心は 滿たされる．
- 正しい 者は 僞りのことばを 憎む． 惡者は 惡臭を 放ちながら 恥ずべきふるまいをする．
