- For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.
- For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.
- And inasmuch as not without an oath he was made priest:
- (For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:)
- By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.

- 一方で， 前の 戒めは， 弱く 無益なために， 廢止されましたが，
- ··律法は 何事も 全うしなかったのです． ··他方で， さらにすぐれた 希望が 導き 入れられました． 私たちはこれによって 神に 近づくのです．
- また， そのためには， はっきりと 誓いがなされています．
- ··彼らのばあいは， 誓いなしに 祭司となるのですが， 主のばあいには， 主に 對して 次のように 言われた 方の 誓いがあります． 「主は 誓ってこう 言われ， みこころを 變えられることはない． 『あなたはとこしえに 祭司である． 』」··
- そのようにして， イエス は， さらにすぐれた 契約の 保證となられたのです．

- And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death:
- But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.
- Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
- For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;
- Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.

- また， 彼らのばあいは， 死ということがあるため， 務めにいつまでもとどまることができず， 大ぜいの 者が 祭司となりました．
- しかし， キリスト は 永遠に 存在されるのであって， 變わることのない 祭司の 務めを 持っておられます．
- したがって， ご 自分によって 神に 近づく 人¿を， 完全に 救うことがおできになります． キリスト はいつも 生きていて， 彼らのために， とりなしをしておられるからです．
- また， このようにきよく， 惡も 汚れもなく， 罪人から 離れ， また， 天よりも 高くされた 大祭司こそ， 私たちにとってまさに 必要な 方です．
- ほかの 大祭司たちとは 違い， キリスト には， まず 自分の 罪のために， その 次に， 民の 罪のために 每日いけにえをささげる 必要はありません． というのは， キリスト は 自分自身をささげ， ただ 一度でこのことを 成し 遂げられたからです．

- For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.

- 律法は 弱さを 持つ 人間を 大祭司に 立てますが， 律法のあとから 來た 誓いのみことばは， 永遠に 全うされた 御子を 立てるのです．
