- And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:
- Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions.
- Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
- Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:
- And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:

- これ 以上， 何を 言いましょうか． もし， ギデオン ， バラク ， サムソン ， エフタ ， また ダビデ ， サムエル ， 預言者たちについても 話すならば， 時が 足りないでしょう．
- 彼らは， 信仰によって， 國¿を 征服し， 正しいことを 行ない， 約束のものを 得， ししの 口をふさぎ，
- 火の 勢いを 消し， 劍の 刃をのがれ， 弱い 者なのに 强くされ， 戰いの 勇士となり， 他國の 陣營を 陷れました．
- 女たちは， 死んだ 者をよみがえらせていただきました． またほかの 人たちは， さらにすぐれたよみがえりを 得るために， 釋放されることを 願わないで 拷問を 受けました．
- また， ほかの 人たちは， あざけられ， むちで 打たれ， さらに 鎖につながれ， 牢に 入れられるめに 會い，

- They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;
- (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.
- And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:
- God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.

- また， 石で 打たれ， 試みを 受け， のこぎりで 引かれ， 劍で 切り 殺され， 羊ややぎの 皮を 着て 步き 回り， 乏しくなり， 惱まされ， 苦しめられ，
- ··この 世は 彼らにふさわしい 所ではありませんでした． ··荒野と 山とほら 穴と 地の 穴とをさまよいました．
- この 人¿はみな， その 信仰によってあかしされましたが， 約束されたものは 得ませんでした．
- 神は 私たちのために， さらにすぐれたものをあらかじめ 用意しておられたので， 彼らが 私たちと 別に 全うされるということはなかったのです．
