- My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.
- For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment;
- And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool:
- Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?
- Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?

- 私の 兄弟たち． あなたがたは 私たちの 榮光の 主 イエス · キリスト を 信じる 信仰を 持っているのですから， 人をえこひいきしてはいけません．
- あなたがたの 會堂に， 金の 指輪をはめ， 立派な 服裝をした 人がはいって 來， またみすぼらしい 服裝をした 貧しい 人もはいって 來たとします．
- あなたがたが， りっぱな 服裝をした 人に 目を 留めて， 「あなたは， こちらの 良い 席におすわりなさい． 」と 言い， 貧しい 人には， 「あなたは， そこで 立っていなさい． でなければ， 私の 足もとにすわりなさい． 」と 言うとすれば，
- あなたがたは， 自分たちの 間で 差別を 設け， 惡い 考え 方で 人をさばく 者になったのではありませんか．
- よく 聞きなさい． 愛する 兄弟たち． 神は， この 世の 貧しい 人たちを 選んで 信仰に 富む 者とし， 神を 愛する 者に 約束されている 御國を 相續する 者とされたではありませんか．

- But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?
- Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?
- If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:
- But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.
- For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

- それなのに， あなたがたは 貧しい 人を 輕蔑したのです． あなたがたをしいたげるのは 富んだ 人たちではありませんか． また， あなたがたを 裁判所に 引いて 行くのも 彼らではありませんか．
- あなたがたがその 名で 呼ばれている 尊い 御名をけがすのも 彼らではありませんか．
- もし， ほんとうにあなたがたが， 聖書に 從って， 「あなたの 隣人をあなた 自身のように 愛せよ． 」という 最高の 律法を 守るなら， あなたがたの 行ないはりっぱです．
- しかし， もし 人をえこひいきするなら， あなたがたは 罪を 犯しており， 律法によって 違反者として 責められます．
- 律法全體を 守っても， 一つの 点でつまずくなら， その 人はすべてを 犯した 者となったのです．

- For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.
- So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.
- For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.

- なぜなら， 「姦淫してはならない． 」と 言われた 方は， 「殺してはならない． 」とも 言われたからです． そこで， 姦淫しなくても 人殺しをすれば， あなたは 律法の 違反者となったのです．
- 自由の 律法によってさばかれる 者らしく 語り， またそのように 行ないなさい．
- あわれみを 示したことのない 者に 對するさばきは， あわれみのないさばきです． あわれみは， さばきに 向かって 勝ち 誇るのです．
