	마태복음 16:13-16:28 베드로의 신앙 고백을 들으신 예수님께서는 자신이 십자가에 달려 돌아가실 것을 말씀하셨다. 그러자 베드로는 이를 만류하였다. 이에 예수님께서는 제자의 길은 자기를 부인하고 주를 따르는 것임을 교훈하셨다.

	베드로의 신앙 고백(16:13-16:20)

When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?

And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

イエスがピリポ · カイザリヤの地方に行かれたとき，弟子たちに尋ねて言われた，「人¿は人の子をだれと言っているか」．

彼らは言った，「ある人¿はバプテスマのヨハネだと言っています．しかし，ほかの人たちは，エリヤだと言い，また，エレミヤあるいは預言者のひとりだ，と言っている者もあります」．

そこでイエスは彼らに言われた，「それでは，あなたがたはわたしをだれと言うか」．

シモン · ペテロが答えて言った，「あなたこそ，生ける神の子キリストです」．

すると，イエスは彼にむかって言われた，「バルヨナ · シモン，あなたはさいわいである．あなたにこの事をあらわしたのは，血肉ではなく，天にいますわたしの父である．

And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.

そこで，わたしもあなたに言う．あなたはペテロである．そして，わたしはこの岩の上にわたしの敎會を建てよう．黃泉の力もそれに打ち勝つことはない．

わたしは，あなたに天國のかぎを授けよう．そして，あなたが地上でつなぐことは，天でもつながれ，あなたが地上で解くことは天でも解かれるであろう」．

そのとき，イエスは，自分がキリストであることをだれにも言ってはいけないと，弟子たちを戒められた．

	제자의 길(16:21-16:28)

From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.

But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

この時から，イエス · キリストは，自分が必ずエルサレムに行き，長老，祭司長，律法學者たちから多くの苦しみを受け，殺され，そして三日目によみがえるべきことを，弟子たちに示しはじめられた．

すると，ペテロはイエスをわきへ引き寄せて，いさめはじめ，「主よ，とんでもないことです．そんなことがあるはずはございません」と言った．

イエスは振り向いて，ペテロに言われた，「サタンよ，引きさがれ．わたしの邪魔をする者だ．あなたは神のことを思わないで，人のことを思っている」．

それからイエスは弟子たちに言われた，「だれでもわたしについてきたいと思うなら，自分を捨て，自分の十字架を負うて，わたしに從ってきなさい．

自分の命を救おうと思う者はそれを失い，わたしのために自分の命を失う者は，それを見いだすであろう．

For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

たとい人が全世界をもうけても，自分の命を損したら，なんの得になろうか．また，人はどんな代價を拂って，その命を買いもどすことができようか．

人の子は父の榮光のうちに，御使たちを從えて來るが，その時には，實際のおこないに應じて，それぞれに報いるであろう．

よく聞いておくがよい，人の子が御國の力をもって來るのを見るまでは，死を味わわない者が，ここに立っている者の中にいる」．
