	마태복음 22:34-23:12 예수님께서는 율법의 강령을 묻는 바리새인에게 사랑이 율법의 완성이라고 답변하셨다. 그리고 외식하고 교만한 유대 지도자들을 책망하시면서 참된 겸손의 도리를 제자들에게 가르치셨다.

	큰 계명(22:34-22:46)

But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together.

Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,

Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

This is the first and great commandment.

さて，パリサイ人たちは，イエスがサドカイ人たちを言いこめられたと聞いて，一緖に集まった．

そして彼らの中のひとりの律法學者が，イエスをためそうとして質問した，

「先生，律法の中で，どのいましめがいちばん大切なのですか」．

イエスは言われた，「『心をつくし，精神をつくし，思いをつくして，主なるあなたの神を愛せよ』．

これがいちばん大切な，第一のいましめである．

And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,

Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The son of David.

He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying,

第二もこれと同樣である，『自分を愛するようにあなたの隣り人を愛せよ』．

これらの二つのいましめに，律法全體と預言者とが，かかっている」．

パリサイ人たちが集まっていたとき，イエスは彼らにお尋ねになった，

「あなたがたはキリストをどう思うか．だれの子なのか」．彼らは「ダビデの子です」と答えた．

イエスは言われた，「それではどうして，ダビデが御靈に感じてキリストを主と呼んでいるのか．

The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?

If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?

And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.

すなわち『主はわが主に仰せになった，あなたの敵をあなたの足もとに置くときまでは，わたしの右に座していなさい』．

このように，ダビデ自身がキリストを主と呼んでいるなら，キリストはどうしてダビデの子であろうか」．

イエスにひと言でも答えうる者は，なかったし，その日からもはや，進んでイエスに質問する者も，いなくなった．

	참된 지도자(23:1-23:12)

Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples,

Saying The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:

All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.

For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.

But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments,

そのときイエスは，群衆と弟子たちとに語って言われた，

「律法學者とパリサイ人とは，モ ― セの座にすわっている．

だから，彼らがあなたがたに言うことは，みな守って實行しなさい．しかし，彼らのすることには，ならうな．彼らは言うだけで，實行しないから．

また，重い荷物をくくって人¿の肩にのせるが，それを動かすために，自分では指一本も貸そうとはしない．

そのすることは，すべて人に見せるためである．すなわち，彼らは經札を幅廣くつくり，その衣のふさを大きくし，

And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues,

And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.

But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren.

And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ.

また，宴會の上座，會堂の上席を好み，

廣場であいさつされることや，人¿から先生と呼ばれることを好んでいる．

しかし，あなたがたは先生と呼ばれてはならない．あなたがたの先生は，ただひとりであって，あなたがたはみな兄弟なのだから．

また，地上のだれをも，父と呼んではならない．あなたがたの父はただひとり，すなわち，天にいます父である．

また，あなたがたは敎師と呼ばれてはならない．あなたがたの敎師はただひとり，すなわち，キリストである．

But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.

And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.

そこで，あなたがたのうちでいちばん偉い者は，仕える人でなければならない．

だれでも自分を高くする者は低くされ，自分を低くする者は高くされるであろう．
