- And they led Jesus away to the high priest: and with him were assembled all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes.
- And Peter followed him afar off, even into the palace of the high priest: and he sat with the servants, and warmed himself at the fire.
- And the chief priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus to put him to death; and found none.
- For many bare false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together.
- And there arose certain, and bare false witness against him, saying,

- それから， イエス を 大祭司のところに 連れて 行くと， 祭司長， 長老， 律法學者たちがみな 集まってきた．
- ペテロ は 遠くから イエス について 行って， 大祭司の 中庭まではいり ¿み， その 下役どもにまじってすわり， 火にあたっていた．
- さて， 祭司長たちと 全議會とは， イエス を 死刑にするために， イエス に 不利な 證據を 見つけようとしたが， 得られなかった．
- 多くの 者が イエス に 對して 僞證を 立てたが， その 證言が 合わなかったからである．
- ついに， ある 人¿が 立ちあがり， イエス に 對して 僞證を 立てて 言った，

- We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands.
- But neither so did their witness agree together.
- And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?
- But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?
- And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

- 「わたしたちはこの 人が『わたしは 手で 造ったこの 神殿を 打ちこわし， 三日の 後に 手で 造られない 別の 神殿を 建てるのだ 』と 言うのを 聞きました 」．
- しかし， このような 證言も 互に 合わなかった．
- そこで 大祭司が 立ちあがって， まん 中に 進み， イエス に 聞きただして 言った， 「何も 答えないのか． これらの 人¿があなたに 對して 不利な 證言を 申し 立てているが， どうなのか 」．
- しかし， イエス は 默っていて， 何もお 答えにならなかった． 大祭司は 再び 聞きただして 言った， 「あなたは， ほむべき 者の 子， キリスト であるか 」．
- イエス は 言われた， 「わたしがそれである． あなたがたは 人の 子が 力ある 者の 右に 座し， 天の 雲に 乘って 來るのを 見るであろう 」．

- Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses?
- Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.
- And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the servants did strike him with the palms of their hands.
- And as Peter was beneath in the palace, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest:
- And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and said, And thou also wast with Jesus of Nazareth.

- すると， 大祭司はその 衣を 引き 裂いて 言った， 「どうして， これ 以上， 證人の 必要があろう．
- あなたがたはこのけがし 言を 聞いた． あなたがたの 意見はどうか 」． すると， 彼らは 皆， イエス を 死に 當るものと 斷定した．
- そして， ある 者は イエス につばきをかけ， 目隱しをし， こぶしでたたいて， 「言いあててみよ 」と 言いはじめた． また 下役どもは イエス を 引きとって， 手のひらでたたいた．
- ペテロ は 下で 中庭にいたが， 大祭司の 女中のひとりがきて，
- ペテロ が 火にあたっているのを 見ると， 彼を 見つめて， 「あなたもあの ナザレ 人 イエス と 一緖だった 」と 言った．

- But he denied, saying, I know not, neither understand I what thou sayest. And he went out into the porch; and the cock crew.
- And a maid saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, This is one of them.
- And he denied it again. And a little after, they that stood by said again to Peter, Surely thou art one of them: for thou art a Galilaean, and thy speech agreeth thereto.
- But he began to curse and to swear, saying, I know not this man of whom ye speak.
- And the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept.

- すると ペテロ はそれを 打ち 消して， 「わたしは 知らない． あなたの 言うことがなんの 事か， わからない 」と 言って， 庭口の 方に 出て 行った．
- ところが， 先の 女中が 彼を 見て， そばに 立っていた 人¿に， またもや「この 人はあの 仲間のひとりです 」と 言いだした．
- ペテロ は 再びそれを 打ち 消した． しばらくして， そばに 立っていた 人たちがまた ペテロ に 言った， 「確かにあなたは 彼らの 仲間だ． あなたも ガリラヤ 人だから 」．
- しかし， 彼は， 「あなたがたの 話しているその 人のことは 何も 知らない 」と 言い 張って， 激しく 誓いはじめた．
- するとすぐ， にわとりが 二度目に 鳴いた． ペテロ は， 「にわとりが 二度鳴く 前に， 三度わたしを 知らないと 言うであろう 」と 言われた イエス の 言葉を 思い 出し， そして 思いかえして 泣きつづけた．
