- Now Elisabeth's full time came that she should be delivered; and she brought forth a son.
- And her neighbours and her cousins heard how the Lord had shewed great mercy upon her; and they rejoiced with her.
- And it came to pass, that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child; and they called him Zacharias, after the name of his father.
- And his mother answered and said, Not so; but he shall be called John.
- And they said unto her, There is none of thy kindred that is called by this name.

- さて エリサベツ は 月が 滿ちて， 男の 子を 産んだ．
- 近所の 人¿や 親族は， 主が 大きなあわれみを 彼女におかけになったことを 聞いて， 共どもに 喜んだ．
- 八日目になったので， 幼な 子に 割禮をするために 人¿がきて， 父の 名にちなんで ザカリヤ という 名にしようとした．
- ところが， 母親は， 「いいえ， ヨハネ という 名にしなくてはいけません 」と 言った．
- 人¿は， 「あなたの 親族の 中には， そういう 名のついた 者は， ひとりもいません 」と 彼女に 言った．

- And they made signs to his father, how he would have him called.
- And he asked for a writing table, and wrote, saying, His name is John. And they marvelled all.
- And his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue loosed, and he spake, and praised God.
- And fear came on all that dwelt round about them: and all these sayings were noised abroad throughout all the hill country of Judaea.
- And all they that heard them laid them up in their hearts, saying, What manner of child shall this be! And the hand of the Lord was with him.

- そして 父親に， どんな 名にしたいのですかと， 合圖で 尋ねた．
- ザカリヤ は 書板を 持ってこさせて， それに「その 名は ヨハネ 」と 書いたので， みんなの 者は 不思議に 思った．
- すると， 立ちどころに ザカリヤ の 口が 開けて 舌がゆるみ， 語り 出して 神をほめたたえた．
- 近所の 人¿はみな 恐れをいだき， また ユダヤ の 山里の 至るところに， これらの 事がことごとく 語り 傳えられたので，
- 聞く 者たちは 皆それを 心に 留めて， 「この 子は， いったい， どんな 者になるだろう 」と 語り 合った． 主のみ 手が 彼と 共にあった．

- And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying,
- Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people,
- And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David;
- As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began:
- That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us;

- 父 ザカリヤ は 聖靈に 滿たされ， 預言して 言った，
- 「主なる イスラエル の 神は， ほむべきかな． 神はその 民を 顧みてこれをあがない，
- わたしたちのために 救の 角を ／僕 ダビデ の 家にお 立てになった．
- 古くから， 聖なる 預言者たちの 口によってお 語りになったように，
- わたしたちを 敵から， またすべてわたしたちを 憎む 者の 手から， 救い 出すためである．

- To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant;
- The oath which he sware to our father Abraham,
- That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear,
- In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.
- And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways;

- こうして， 神はわたしたちの 父祖たちにあわれみをかけ， その 聖なる 契約，
- すなわち， 父祖 アブラハム にお 立てになった 誓いをおぼえて，
- わたしたちを 敵の 手から 救い 出し，
- 生きている 限り， きよく 正しく， みまえに 恐れなく 仕えさせてくださるのである．
- 幼な 子よ， あなたは， いと 高き 者の 預言者と 呼ばれるであろう． 主のみまえに 先立って 行き， その 道を 備え，

- To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins,
- Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us,
- To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.
- And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel.

- 罪のゆるしによる 救を ／その 民に 知らせるのであるから．
- これはわたしたちの 神のあわれみ 深いみこころによる． また， そのあわれみによって， 日の 光が 上からわたしたちに 臨み，
- 暗黑と 死の 陰とに 住む 者を 照し， わたしたちの 足を 平和の 道へ 導くであろう 」．
- 幼な 子は 成長し， その 靈も 强くなり， そして イスラエル に 現れる 日まで， 荒野にいた．
