	신명기 31:1-32:47 임종이 가까웠음을 안 모세는 자신의 뒤를 이어 백성들을 가나안으로 인도할 지도자로서 여호수아를 세우고 그를 격려한 후, 모든 율법을 기록하여 제사장과 장로들에게 전수하고 그것을 힘써 지킬 것을 당부했다. 그리고 자기가 죽은 후에 이스라엘 백성들이 불신앙과 우상 숭배로 인해 재앙을 당할 것임을 예언하고 이에 대한 노래를 지어 백성들에게 가르쳤다.

	후계자 여호수아의 임명(31:1-31:30)

And Moses went and spake these words unto all Israel.

And he said unto them, I am an hundred and twenty years old this day; I can no more go out and come in: also the LORD hath said unto me, Thou shalt not go over this Jordan.

The LORD thy God, he will go over before thee, and he will destroy these nations from before thee, and thou shalt possess them: and Joshua, he shall go over before thee, as the LORD hath said.

And the LORD shall do unto them as he did to Sihon and to Og, kings of the Amorites, and unto the land of them, whom he destroyed.

And the LORD shall give them up before your face, that ye may do unto them according unto all the commandments which I have commanded you.

そこでモ ― セは續いてこの言葉をイスラエルのすべての人に告げて，

彼らに言った，「わたしは，きょう，すでに百二十歲になり，もはや出入りすることはできない．また主はわたしに『おまえはこのヨルダンを渡ることはできない』と言われた．

あなたの神，主はみずからあなたに先立って渡り，あなたの前から，これらの國¿の民を滅ぼし去って，あなたにこれを獲させられるであろう．また主がかつて言われたように，ヨシュアはあなたを率いて渡るであろう．

主がさきにアモリびとの王シホンとオグおよびその地にされたように，彼らにもおこなって彼らを滅ぼされるであろう．

主は彼らをあなたがたに渡されるから，あなたがたはわたしが命じたすべての命令のとおりに彼らに行わなければならない．

Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

And Moses called unto Joshua, and said unto him in the sight of all Israel, Be strong and of a good courage: for thou must go with this people unto the land which the LORD hath sworn unto their fathers to give them; and thou shalt cause them to inherit it.

And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.

And Moses wrote this law, and delivered it unto the priests the sons of Levi, which bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and unto all the elders of Israel.

And Moses commanded them, saying, At the end of every seven years, in the solemnity of the year of release, in the feast of tabernacles,

あなたがたは强く，かつ勇ましくなければならない．彼らを恐れ，おののいてはならない．あなたの神，主があなたと共に行かれるからである．主は決してあなたを見放さず，またあなたを見捨てられないであろう」．

モ ― セはヨシュアを呼び，イスラエルのすべての人の目の前で彼に言った，「あなたはこの民と共に行き，主が彼らの先祖たちに與えると誓われた地に入るのであるから，あなたは强く，かつ勇ましくなければならない．あなたは彼らにそれを獲させるであろう．

主はみずからあなたに先立って行き，またあなたと共におり，あなたを見放さず，見捨てられないであろう．恐れてはならない，おののいてはならない」．

モ ― セはこの律法を書いて，主の契約の箱をかつぐレビの子孫である祭司およびイスラエルのすべての長老たちに授けた．

そしてモ ― セは彼らに命じて言った，「七年の終りごとに，すなわち，ゆるしの年の定めの時になり，かりいおの祭に，

When all Israel is come to appear before the LORD thy God in the place which he shall choose, thou shalt read this law before all Israel in their hearing.

Gather the people together, men and women, and children, and thy stranger that is within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear the LORD your God, and observe to do all the words of this law:

And that their children, which have not known any thing, may hear, and learn to fear the LORD your God, as long as ye live in the land whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thy days approach that thou must die: call Joshua, and present yourselves in the tabernacle of the congregation, that I may give him a charge. And Moses and Joshua went, and presented themselves in the tabernacle of the congregation.

And the LORD appeared in the tabernacle in a pillar of a cloud: and the pillar of the cloud stood over the door of the tabernacle.

イスラエルのすべての人があなたの神，主の前に出るため，主の選ばれる場所に來るとき，あなたはイスラエルのすべての人の前でこの律法を讀んで聞かせなければならない．

すなわち男，女，子供およびあなたの町のうちに寄留している他國人など民を集め，彼らにこれを聞かせ，かつ學ばせなければならない．そうすれば彼らはあなたがたの神，主を恐れてこの律法の言葉を，ことごとく守り行うであろう．

また彼らの子供たちでこれを知らない者も聞いて，あなたがたの神，主を恐れることを學ぶであろう．あなたがたがヨルダンを渡って行って取る地にながらえる日のあいだ常にそうしなければならない」．

主はまたモ ― セに言われた，「あなたの死ぬ日が近づいている．ヨシュアを召して共に會見の幕屋に立ちなさい．わたしは彼に務を命じるであろう」．モ ― セとヨシュアが行って會見の幕屋に立つと，

主は幕屋で雲の柱のうちに現れられた．その雲の柱は幕屋の入口のかたわらにとどまった．

And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thou shalt sleep with thy fathers; and this people will rise up, and go a whoring after the gods of the strangers of the land, whither they go to be among them, and will forsake me, and break my covenant which I have made with them.

Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall befall them; so that they will say in that day, Are not these evils come upon us, because our God is not among us?

And I will surely hide my face in that day for all the evils which they shall have wrought, in that they are turned unto other gods.

Now therefore write ye this song for you, and teach it the children of Israel: put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for me against the children of Israel.

For when I shall have brought them into the land which I sware unto their fathers, that floweth with milk and honey; and they shall have eaten and filled themselves, and waxen fat; then will they turn unto other gods, and serve them, and provoke me, and break my covenant.

主はモ ― セに言われた，「あなたはまもなく眠って先祖たちと一緖になるであろう．そのときこの民はたちあがり，はいって行く地の異なる神¿を慕って姦淫を行い，わたしを捨て，わたしが彼らと結んだ契約を破るであろう．

その日には，わたしは彼らにむかって怒りを發し，彼らを捨て，わたしの顔を彼らに隱すゆえに，彼らは滅ぼしつくされ，多くの災と惱みが彼らに臨むであろう．そこでその日，彼らは言うであろう，『これらの災がわれわれに臨むのは，われわれの神がわれわれのうちにおられないからではないか』．

しかも彼らがほかの神¿に歸して，もろもろの惡を行うゆえに，わたしはその日には必ずわたしの顔を隱すであろう．

それであなたがたは今，この歌を書きしるし，イスラエルの人¿に敎えてその口に唱えさせ，この歌をイスラエルの人¿に對するわたしのあかしとならせなさい．

わたしが彼らの先祖たちに誓った，乳と蜜の流れる地に彼らを導き入れる時，彼らは食べて飽き，肥え太るに及んで，ほかの神¿に歸し，それに仕えて，わたしを輕んじ，わたしの契約を破るであろう．

And it shall come to pass, when many evils and troubles are befallen them, that this song shall testify against them as a witness; for it shall not be forgotten out of the mouths of their seed: for I know their imagination which they go about, even now, before I have brought them into the land which I sware.

Moses therefore wrote this song the same day, and taught it the children of Israel.

And he gave Joshua the son of Nun a charge, and said, Be strong and of a good courage: for thou shalt bring the children of Israel into the land which I sware unto them: and I will be with thee.

And it came to pass, when Moses had made an end of writing the words of this law in a book, until they were finished,

That Moses commanded the Levites, which bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, saying,

こうして多くの災と惱みとが彼らに臨む時，この歌は彼らに對して，あかしとなるであろう．（それはこの歌が彼らの子孫の口にあって，彼らはそれを忘れないからである．）わたしが誓った地に彼らを導き入れる前，すでに彼らが思いはかっている事をわたしは知っているからである」．

モ ― セはその日，この歌を書いてイスラエルの人¿に敎えた．

主はヌンの子ヨシュアに命じて言われた，「あなたはイスラエルの人¿をわたしが彼らに誓った地に導き入れなければならない．それゆえ强くかつ勇ましくあれ．わたしはあなたと共にいるであろう」．

モ ― セがこの律法の言葉を，ことごとく書物に書き終った時，

モ ― セは主の契約の箱をかつぐレビびとに命じて言った，

Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.

For I know thy rebellion, and thy stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, ye have been rebellious against the LORD; and how much more after my death?

Gather unto me all the elders of your tribes, and your officers, that I may speak these words in their ears, and call heaven and earth to record against them.

For I know that after my death ye will utterly corrupt yourselves, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will befall you in the latter days; because ye will do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger through the work of your hands.

And Moses spake in the ears of all the congregation of Israel the words of this song, until they were ended.

「この律法の書をとって，あなたがたの神，主の契約の箱のかたわらに置き，その所であなたにむかってあかしをするものとしなさい．

わたしはあなたのそむくことと，かたくななこととを知っている．きょう，わたしが生きながらえて，あなたがたと一緖にいる間ですら，あなたがたは主にそむいた．ましてわたしが死んだあとはどんなであろう．

あなたがたの部族のすべての長老たちと，つかさたちをわたしのもとに集めなさい．わたしはこれらの言葉を彼らに語り聞かせ，天と地とを呼んで彼らにむかってあかしさせよう．

わたしは知っている．わたしが死んだのち，あなたがたは必ず惡い事をして，わたしが命じた道を離れる．そして後の日に災があなたがたに臨むであろう．これは主の惡と見られることを行い，あなたがたのすることをもって主を怒らせるからである」．

そしてモ ― セはイスラエルの全會衆に次の歌の言葉を，ことごとく語り聞かせた．

	모세의 노래(32:1-32:47)

Give ear, O ye heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.

My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass:

Because I will publish the name of the LORD: ascribe ye greatness unto our God.

He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.

They have corrupted themselves, their spot is not the spot of his children: they are a perverse and crooked generation.

「天よ，耳を傾けよ，わたしは語る，／地よ，わたしの口の言葉を聞け．

わたしの敎は雨のように降りそそぎ，／わたしの言葉は露のようにしたたるであろう．若草の上に降る小雨のように，／靑草の上にくだる夕立のように．

わたしは主の名をのべよう，／われわれの神に榮光を歸せよ．

主は岩であって，そのみわざは全く，／その道はみな正しい．主は眞實なる神であって，僞りなく，／義であって，正である．

彼らは主にむかって惡を行い，／そのきずのゆえに，もはや主の子らではなく，／よこしまで，曲ったやからである．

Do ye thus requite the LORD, O foolish people and unwise? is not he thy father that hath bought thee? hath he not made thee, and established thee?

Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations: ask thy father, and he will shew thee; thy elders, and they will tell thee.

When the Most High divided to the nations their inheritance, when he separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel.

For the LORD's portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance.

He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye.

愚かな知惠のない民よ，／あなたがたはこのようにして主に報いるのか．主はあなたを生み，あなたを造り，／あなたを堅く立てられたあなたの父ではないか．

いにしえの日を覺え，／代¿の年を思え．あなたの父に問え，／彼はあなたに告げるであろう．長老たちに問え，／彼らはあなたに語るであろう．

いと高き者は人の子らを分け，／諸國民にその嗣業を與えられたとき，／イスラエルの子らの數に照して，／もろもろの民の境を定められた．

主の分はその民であって，／ヤコブはその定められた嗣業である．

主はこれを荒野の地で見いだし，／¿のほえる荒れ地で會い，／これを巡り圍んでいたわり，／目のひとみのように守られた．

As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings:

So the LORD alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him.

He made him ride on the high places of the earth, that he might eat the increase of the fields; and he made him to suck honey out of the rock, and oil out of the flinty rock;

Butter of kine, and milk of sheep, with fat of lambs, and rams of the breed of Bashan, and goats, with the fat of kidneys of wheat; and thou didst drink the pure blood of the grape.

But Jeshurun waxed fat, and kicked: thou art waxen fat, thou art grown thick, thou art covered with fatness; then he forsook God which made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation.

わしがその巢のひなを呼び起し，／その子の上に舞いかけり，／その羽をひろげて彼らをのせ，／そのつばさの上にこれを負うように，

主はただひとりで彼を導かれて，／ほかの神¿はあずからなかった．

主は彼に地の高き所を乘り通らせ，／田畑の産物を食わせ，／岩の中から蜜を吸わせ，／堅い岩から油を吸わせ，

牛の凝乳，羊の乳，／小羊と雄羊の脂肪，／バシャンの牛と雄やぎ，／小麥の良い物を食わせられた．またあなたはぶどうのしるのあわ立つ酒を飮んだ．

しかるにエシュルンは肥え太って，足でけった．あなたは肥え太って，つややかになり，／自分を造った神を捨て，／救の岩を侮った．

They provoked him to jealousy with strange gods, with abominations provoked they him to anger.

They sacrificed unto devils, not to God; to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not.

Of the Rock that begat thee thou art unmindful, and hast forgotten God that formed thee.

And when the LORD saw it, he abhorred them, because of the provoking of his sons, and of his daughters.

And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very froward generation, children in whom is no faith.

彼らはほかの神¿に仕えて，主のねたみを起し，／憎むべきおこないをもって主の怒りをひき起した．

彼らは神でもない惡靈に ¿牲をささげた．それは彼らがかつて知らなかった神¿，／近ごろ出た新しい神¿，／先祖たちの恐れることもしなかった者である．

あなたは自分を生んだ岩を輕んじ，／自分を造った神を忘れた．

主はこれを見，／そのむすこ，娘を怒ってそれを捨てられた．

そして言われた，／『わたしはわたしの顔を彼らに隱そう．わたしは彼らの終りがどうなるかを見よう．彼らはそむき，もとるやから，／眞實のない子らである．

They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities: and I will move them to jealousy with those which are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.

For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains.

I will heap mischiefs upon them; I will spend mine arrows upon them.

They shall be burnt with hunger, and devoured with burning heat, and with bitter destruction: I will also send the teeth of beasts upon them, with the poison of serpents of the dust.

The sword without, and terror within, shall destroy both the young man and the virgin, the suckling also with the man of gray hairs.

彼らは神でもない者をもって，／わたしにねたみを起させ，／偶像をもって，わたしを怒らせた．それゆえ，わたしは民ともいえない者をもって，／彼らにねたみを起させ，／愚かな民をもって，彼らを怒らせるであろう．

わたしの怒りによって，火は燃えいで，／陰府の深みにまで燃え行き，／地とその産物とを燒きつくし，／山¿の基を燃やすであろう．

わたしは彼らの上に災を積みかさね，／わたしの矢を彼らにむかって射つくすであろう．

彼らは飢えて，やせ衰え，／熱病と惡い疫病によって滅びるであろう．わたしは彼らを ¿の齒にかからせ，／地に這うものの毒にあたらせるであろう．

外にはつるぎ，內には恐れがあって，／若き男も若き女も，／乳のみ子も，しらがの人も滅びるであろう．

I said, I would scatter them into corners, I would make the remembrance of them to cease from among men:

Were it not that I feared the wrath of the enemy, lest their adversaries should behave themselves strangely, and lest they should say, Our hand is high, and the LORD hath not done all this.

For they are a nation void of counsel, neither is there any understanding in them.

O that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end!

How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the LORD had shut them up?

わたしはまさに言おうとした，「彼らを遠く散らし，／彼らの事を人¿が記憶しないようにしよう」．

しかし，わたしは敵が誇るのを恐れる．あだびとはまちがえて言うであろう，／「われわれの手が勝ちをえたのだ．これはみな主がされたことではない」』．

彼らは思慮の欠けた民，／そのうちには知識がない．

もし，彼らに知惠があれば，これをさとり，／その身の終りをわきまえたであろうに．

彼らの岩が彼らを賣らず，／主が彼らをわたされなかったならば，／どうして，ひとりで千人を追い，／ふたりで万人を敗ることができたであろう．

For their rock is not as our Rock, even our enemies themselves being judges.

For their vine is of the vine of Sodom, and of the fields of Gomorrah: their grapes are grapes of gall, their clusters are bitter:

Their wine is the poison of dragons, and the cruel venom of asps.

Is not this laid up in store with me, and sealed up among my treasures?

To me belongeth vengeance and recompence; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste.

彼らの岩はわれらの岩に及ばない．われらの敵もこれを認めている．

彼らのぶどうの木は，／ソドムのぶどうの木から出たもの，／またゴモラの野から出たもの，／そのぶどうは毒ぶどう，／そのふさは苦い．

そのぶどう酒はへびの毒のよう，／まむしの恐ろしい毒のようである．

これはわたしのもとにたくわえられ，／わたしの倉に封じ ¿められているではないか．

彼らの足がすべるとき，／わたしはあだを返し，報いをするであろう．彼らの災の日は近く，／彼らの破滅は，／すみやかに來るであろう．

For the LORD shall judge his people, and repent himself for his servants, when he seeth that their power is gone, and there is none shut up, or left.

And he shall say, Where are their gods, their rock in whom they trusted,

Which did eat the fat of their sacrifices, and drank the wine of their drink offerings? let them rise up and help you, and be your protection.

See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.

For I lift up my hand to heaven, and say, I live for ever.

主はついにその民をさばき，／そのしもべらにあわれみを加えられるであろう．これは彼らの力がうせ去り，／つながれた者もつながれない者も，／もはやいなくなったのを，主が見られるからである．

そのとき主は言われるであろう，／『彼らの神¿はどこにいるか，／彼らの賴みとした岩はどこにあるか．

彼らの ¿牲のあぶらを食い，／灌祭の酒を飮んだ者はどこにいるか．立ちあがってあなたがたを助けさせよ，／あなたがたを守らせよ．

今見よ，わたしこそは彼である．わたしのほかに神はない．わたしは殺し，また生かし，／傷つけ，またいやす．わたしの手から救い出しうるものはない．

わたしは天にむかい手をあげて誓う，／「わたしは永遠に生きる．

If I whet my glittering sword, and mine hand take hold on judgment; I will render vengeance to mine enemies, and will reward them that hate me.

I will make mine arrows drunk with blood, and my sword shall devour flesh; and that with the blood of the slain and of the captives, from the beginning of revenges upon the enemy.

Rejoice, O ye nations, with his people: for he will avenge the blood of his servants, and will render vengeance to his adversaries, and will be merciful unto his land, and to his people.

And Moses came and spake all the words of this song in the ears of the people, he, and Hoshea the son of Nun.

And Moses made an end of speaking all these words to all Israel:

わたしがきらめくつるぎをとぎ，／手にさばきを握るとき，／わたしは敵にあだを返し，／わたしを憎む者に報復するであろう．

わたしの矢を血に醉わせ，／わたしのつるぎに肉を食わせるであろう．殺された者と捕えられた者の血を飮ませ，／敵の長髮の頭の肉を食わせるであろう」』．

國¿の民よ，主の民のために喜び歌え．主はそのしもべの血のために報復し，／その敵にあだを返し，／その民の地の汚れを淸められるからである」．

モ ― セとヌンの子ヨシュアは共に行って，この歌の言葉を，ことごとく民に讀み聞かせた．

モ ― セはこの言葉を，ことごとくイスラエルのすべての人に告げ終って，

And he said unto them, Set your hearts unto all the words which I testify among you this day, which ye shall command your children to observe to do, all the words of this law.

For it is not a vain thing for you; because it is your life: and through this thing ye shall prolong your days in the land, whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.

彼らに言った，「あなたがたはわたしが，きょう，あなたがたに命じるこのすべての言葉を心におさめ，子供たちにもこの律法のすべての言葉を守り行うことを命じなければならない．

この言葉はあなたがたにとって，むなしい言葉ではない．これはあなたがたのいのちである．この言葉により，あなたがたはヨルダンを渡って行って取る地で，長く命を保つことができるであろう」．

	여수룬( 32:15) ‘사랑받는 자’, ‘정직한 자’ 라는 의미로 이스라엘을 가리킴
