- There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
- The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
- Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
- Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
- Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

- パリサイ 人のひとりで， その 名を ニコデモ という ユダヤ 人の 指導者があった．
- この 人が 夜 イエス のもとにきて 言った， 「先生， わたしたちはあなたが 神からこられた 敎師であることを 知っています． 神がご 一緖でないなら， あなたがなさっておられるようなしるしは， だれにもできはしません 」．
- イエス は 答えて 言われた， 「よくよくあなたに 言っておく． だれでも 新しく 生れなければ， 神の 國を 見ることはできない 」．
- ニコデモ は 言った， 「人は 年をとってから 生れることが， どうしてできますか． もう 一度， 母の 胎にはいって 生れることができましょうか 」．
- イエス は 答えられた， 「よくよくあなたに 言っておく． だれでも， 水と 靈とから 生れなければ， 神の 國にはいることはできない．

- That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
- Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
- The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
- Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be?
- Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?

- 肉から 生れる 者は 肉であり， 靈から 生れる 者は 靈である．
- あなたがたは 新しく 生れなければならないと， わたしが 言ったからとて， 不思議に 思うには 及ばない．
- 風は 思いのままに 吹く． あなたはその 音を 聞くが， それがどこからきて， どこへ 行くかは 知らない． 靈から 生れる 者もみな， それと 同じである 」．
- ニコデモ は イエス に 答えて 言った， 「どうして， そんなことがあり 得ましょうか 」．
- イエス は 彼に 答えて 言われた， 「あなたは イスラエル の 敎師でありながら， これぐらいのことがわからないのか．

- Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.
- If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?
- And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
- And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
- That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

- よくよく 言っておく． わたしたちは 自分の 知っていることを 語り， また 自分の 見たことをあかししているのに， あなたがたはわたしたちのあかしを 受けいれない．
- わたしが 地上のことを 語っているのに， あなたがたが 信じないならば， 天上のことを 語った 場合， どうしてそれを 信じるだろうか．
- 天から 下ってきた 者， すなわち 人の 子のほかには， だれも 天に 上った 者はない．
- そして， ちょうど モ ― セ が 荒野でへびを 上げたように， 人の 子もまた 上げられなければならない．
- それは 彼を 信じる 者が， すべて 永遠の 命を 得るためである 」．

- For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
- For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
- He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
- And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
- For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

- 神はそのひとり 子を 賜わったほどに， この 世を 愛して 下さった． それは 御子を 信じる 者がひとりも 滅びないで， 永遠の 命を 得るためである．
- 神が 御子を 世につかわされたのは， 世をさばくためではなく， 御子によって， この 世が 救われるためである．
- 彼を 信じる 者は， さばかれない． 信じない 者は， すでにさばかれている． 神のひとり 子の 名を 信じることをしないからである．
- そのさばきというのは， 光がこの 世にきたのに， 人¿はそのおこないが 惡いために， 光よりもやみの 方を 愛したことである．
- 惡を 行っている 者はみな 光を 憎む． そして， そのおこないが 明るみに 出されるのを 恐れて， 光にこようとはしない．

- But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
|
- しかし， 眞理を 行っている 者は 光に 來る． その 人のおこないの， 神にあってなされたということが， 明らかにされるためである．
