- Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.
- And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.
- And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,
- They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
- Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?

- イエス は オリブ 山に 行かれた．
- 朝早くまた 宮にはいられると， 人¿が 皆みもとに 集まってきたので， イエス はすわって 彼らを 敎えておられた．
- すると， 律法學者たちや パリサイ 人たちが， 姦淫をしている 時につかまえられた 女をひっぱってきて， 中に 立たせた 上， イエス に 言った，
- 「先生， この 女は 姦淫の 場でつかまえられました．
- モ ― セ は 律法の 中で， こういう 女を 石で 打ち 殺せと 命じましたが， あなたはどう 思いますか 」．

- This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.
- So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
- And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
- And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
- When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?

- 彼らがそう 言ったのは， イエス をためして， 訴える 口實を 得るためであった． しかし， イエス は 身をかがめて， 指で 地面に 何か 書いておられた．
- 彼らが 問い 續けるので， イエス は 身を 起して 彼らに 言われた， 「あなたがたの 中で 罪のない 者が， まずこの 女に 石を 投げつけるがよい 」．
- そしてまた 身をかがめて， 地面に 物を 書きつづけられた．
- これを 聞くと， 彼らは 年寄から 始めて， ひとりびとり 出て 行き， ついに， イエス だけになり， 女は 中にいたまま 殘された．
- そこで イエス は 身を 起して 女に 言われた， 「女よ， みんなはどこにいるか． あなたを 罰する 者はなかったのか 」．

- She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
- Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
- The Pharisees therefore said unto him, Thou bearest record of thyself; thy record is not true.
- Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go.
- Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man.

- 女は 言った， 「主よ， だれもございません 」． イエス は 言われた， 「わたしもあなたを 罰しない． お 歸りなさい． 今後はもう 罪を 犯さないように 」． 〕
- イエス は， また 人¿に 語ってこう 言われた， 「わたしは 世の 光である． わたしに 從って 來る 者は， やみのうちを 步くことがなく， 命の 光をもつであろう 」．
- すると パリサイ 人たちが イエス に 言った， 「あなたは， 自分のことをあかししている． あなたのあかしは 眞實ではない 」．
- イエス は 彼らに 答えて 言われた， 「たとい， わたしが 自分のことをあかししても， わたしのあかしは 眞實である． それは， わたしがどこからきたのか， また， どこへ 行くのかを 知っているからである． しかし， あなたがたは， わたしがどこからきて， どこへ 行くのかを 知らない．
- あなたがたは 肉によって 人をさばくが， わたしはだれもさばかない．

- And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.
- It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true.
- I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me.
- Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also.
- These words spake Jesus in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet come.

- しかし， もしわたしがさばくとすれば， わたしのさばきは 正しい． なぜなら， わたしはひとりではなく， わたしをつかわされたかたが， わたしと 一緖だからである．
- あなたがたの 律法には， ふたりによる 證言は 眞實だと， 書いてある．
- わたし 自身のことをあかしするのは， わたしであるし， わたしをつかわされた 父も， わたしのことをあかしして 下さるのである 」．
- すると， 彼らは イエス に 言った， 「あなたの 父はどこにいるのか 」． イエス は 答えられた， 「あなたがたは， わたしをもわたしの 父をも 知っていない． もし， あなたがたがわたしを 知っていたなら， わたしの 父をも 知っていたであろう 」．
- イエス が 宮の 內で 敎えていた 時， これらの 言葉をさいせん 箱のそばで 語られたのであるが， イエス の 時がまだきていなかったので， だれも 捕える 者がなかった．
