- And he led them on safely, so that they feared not: but the sea overwhelmed their enemies.
- And he brought them to the border of his sanctuary, even to this mountain, which his right hand had purchased.
- He cast out the heathen also before them, and divided them an inheritance by line, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.
- Yet they tempted and provoked the most high God, and kept not his testimonies:
- But turned back, and dealt unfaithfully like their fathers: they were turned aside like a deceitful bow.

- 彼らを 安らかに 導かれたので ／彼らは 恐れることがなかった． しかし 海は 彼らの 敵をのみつくした．
- 神は 彼らをその 聖地に 伴い， その 右の 手をもって 獲たこの 山に 伴いこられた．
- 神は 彼らの 前からもろもろの 國民を 追い 出し， その 地を 分けて 嗣業とし， イスラエル の 諸族を 彼らの 天幕に 住まわせられた．
- しかし 彼らはいと 高き 神を 試み， これにそむいて， そのもろもろのあかしを 守らず，
- そむき 去って， 先祖たちのように 眞實を 失い， 狂った 弓のようにねじれた．

- For they provoked him to anger with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their graven images.
- When God heard this, he was wroth, and greatly abhorred Israel:
- So that he forsook the tabernacle of Shiloh, the tent which he placed among men;
- And delivered his strength into captivity, and his glory into the enemy's hand.
- He gave his people over also unto the sword; and was wroth with his inheritance.

- 彼らは 高き 所を 設けて 神を 怒らせ， 刻んだ 像をもって 神のねたみを 起した．
- 神は 聞いて 大いに 怒り， イスラエル を 全くしりぞけられた．
- 神は 人¿のなかに 設けた 幕屋なる ／ シロ のすまいを 捨て，
- その 力をとりことならせ， その 榮光をあだの 手にわたされた．
- 神はその 民をつるぎにわたし， その 嗣業にむかって 大いなる 怒りをもらされた．

- The fire consumed their young men; and their maidens were not given to marriage.
- Their priests fell by the sword; and their widows made no lamentation.

- 火は 彼らの 若者たちを 燒きつくし， 彼らのおとめたちは 婚姻の 歌を 失い，
- 彼らの 祭司たちはつるぎによって 倒れ， 彼らのやもめたちは 嘆き 悲しむことさえしなかった．
