- And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
- And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
- Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
- I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
- As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

- イエス が 道をとおっておられるとき， 生れつきの 盲人を 見られた．
- 弟子たちは イエス に 尋ねて 言った， 「先生， この 人が 生れつき 盲人なのは， だれが 罪を 犯したためですか． 本人ですか， それともその 兩親ですか 」．
- イエス は 答えられた， 「本人が 罪を 犯したのでもなく， また， その 兩親が 犯したのでもない． ただ 神のみわざが， 彼の 上に 現れるためである．
- わたしたちは， わたしをつかわされたかたのわざを， ¿の 間にしなければならない． 夜が 來る． すると， だれも ¿けなくなる．
- わたしは， この 世にいる 間は， 世の 光である 」．

- When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,
- And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
- The neighbours therefore, and they which before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged?
- Some said, This is he: others said, He is like him: but he said, I am he.
- Therefore said they unto him, How were thine eyes opened?

- イエス はそう 言って， 地につばきをし， そのつばきで， どろをつくり， そのどろを 盲人の 目に 塗って 言われた，
- 「シロアム （つかわされた 者， の 意 ）の 池に 行って 洗いなさい 」． そこで 彼は 行って 洗った． そして 見えるようになって， 歸って 行った．
- 近所の 人¿や， 彼がもと， こじきであったのを 見知っていた 人¿が 言った， 「この 人は， すわってこじきをしていた 者ではないか 」．
- ある 人¿は「その 人だ 」と 言い， 他の 人¿は「いや， ただあの 人に 似ているだけだ 」と 言った． しかし， 本人は「わたしがそれだ 」と 言った．
- そこで 人¿は 彼に 言った， 「では， おまえの 目はどうしてあいたのか 」．

- He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight.
- Then said they unto him, Where is he? He said, I know not.
- They brought to the Pharisees him that aforetime was blind.
- And it was the sabbath day when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes.
- Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see.

- 彼は 答えた， 「イエス というかたが， どろをつくって， わたしの 目に 塗り， 『シロアム に 行って 洗え 』と 言われました． それで， 行って 洗うと， 見えるようになりました 」．
- 人¿は 彼に 言った， 「その 人はどこにいるのか 」． 彼は「知りません 」と 答えた．
- 人¿は， もと 盲人であったこの 人を， パリサイ 人たちのところにつれて 行った．
- イエス がどろをつくって 彼の 目をあけたのは， 安息日であった．
- パリサイ 人たちもまた， 「どうして 見えるようになったのか 」， と 彼に 尋ねた． 彼は 答えた， 「あのかたがわたしの 目にどろを 塗り， わたしがそれを 洗い， そして 見えるようになりました 」．

- Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.
- They say unto the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thine eyes? He said, He is a prophet.
- But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight.
- And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? how then doth he now see?
- His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind:

- そこで， ある パリサイ 人たちが 言った， 「その 人は 神からきた 人ではない． 安息日を 守っていないのだから 」． しかし， ほかの 人¿は 言った， 「罪のある 人が， どうしてそのようなしるしを 行うことができようか 」． そして 彼らの 間に 分爭が 生じた．
- そこで 彼らは， もう 一度この 盲人に 聞いた， 「おまえの 目をあけてくれたその 人を， どう 思うか 」． 「預言者だと 思います 」と 彼は 言った．
- ユダヤ 人たちは， 彼がもと 盲人であったが 見えるようになったことを， まだ 信じなかった． ついに 彼らは， 目が 見えるようになったこの 人の 兩親を 呼んで，
- 尋ねて 言った， 「これが， 生れつき 盲人であったと， おまえたちの 言っているむすこか． それではどうして， いま 目が 見えるのか 」．
- 兩親は 答えて 言った， 「これがわたしどものむすこであること， また 生れつき 盲人であったことは 存じています．

- But by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself.
- These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.
- Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him.
- Then again called they the man that was blind, and said unto him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner.
- He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.

- しかし， どうしていま 見えるようになったのか， それは 知りません． また， だれがその 目をあけて 下さったのかも 知りません． あれに 聞いて 下さい． あれはもうおとなですから， 自分のことは 自分で 話せるでしょう 」．
- 兩親は ユダヤ 人たちを 恐れていたので， こう 答えたのである． それは， もし イエス を キリスト と 告白する 者があれば， 會堂から 追い 出すことに， ユダヤ 人たちが 旣に 決めていたからである．
- 彼の 兩親が「おとなですから， あれに 聞いて 下さい 」と 言ったのは， そのためであった．
- そこで 彼らは， 盲人であった 人をもう 一度呼んで 言った， 「神に 榮光を 歸するがよい． あの 人が 罪人であることは， わたしたちにはわかっている 」．
- すると 彼は 言った， 「あのかたが 罪人であるかどうか， わたしは 知りません． ただ 一つのことだけ 知っています． わたしは 盲人であったが， 今は 見えるということです 」．

- Then said they to him again, What did he to thee? how opened he thine eyes?
- He answered them, I have told you already, and ye did not hear: wherefore would ye hear it again? will ye also be his disciples?
- Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are Moses' disciples.
- We know that God spake unto Moses: as for this fellow, we know not from whence he is.
- The man answered and said unto them, Why herein is a marvellous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and yet he hath opened mine eyes.

- そこで 彼らは 言った， 「その 人はおまえに 何をしたのか． どんなにしておまえの 目をあけたのか 」．
- 彼は 答えた， 「そのことはもう 話してあげたのに， 聞いてくれませんでした． なぜまた 聞こうとするのですか． あなたがたも， あの 人の 弟子になりたいのですか 」．
- そこで 彼らは 彼をののしって 言った， 「おまえはあれの 弟子だが， わたしたちは モ ― セ の 弟子だ．
- モ ― セ に 神が 語られたということは 知っている． だが， あの 人がどこからきた 者か， わたしたちは 知らぬ 」．
- そこで 彼が 答えて 言った， 「わたしの 目をあけて 下さったのに， そのかたがどこからきたか， ご 存じないとは， 不思議千万です．

- Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
- Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind.
- If this man were not of God, he could do nothing.
- They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.
- Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God?

- わたしたちはこのことを 知っています． 神は 罪人の 言うことはお 聞きいれになりませんが， 神を 敬い， そのみこころを 行う 人の 言うことは， 聞きいれて 下さいます．
- 生れつき 盲人であった 者の 目をあけた 人があるということは， 世界が 始まって 以來， 聞いたことがありません．
- もしあのかたが 神からきた 人でなかったら， 何一つできなかったはずです 」．
- これを 聞いて 彼らは 言った， 「おまえは 全く 罪の 中に 生れていながら， わたしたちを 敎えようとするのか 」． そして 彼を 外へ 追い 出した．
- イエス は， その 人が 外へ 追い 出されたことを 聞かれた． そして 彼に 會って 言われた， 「あなたは 人の 子を 信じるか 」．

- He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him?
- And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee.
- And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.
- And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.
- And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?

- 彼は 答えて 言った， 「主よ， それはどなたですか． そのかたを 信じたいのですが 」．
- イエス は 彼に 言われた， 「あなたは， もうその 人に 會っている． 今あなたと 話しているのが， その 人である 」．
- すると 彼は， 「主よ， 信じます 」と 言って， イエス を 拜した．
- そこで イエス は 言われた， 「わたしがこの 世にきたのは， さばくためである． すなわち， 見えない 人たちが 見えるようになり， 見える 人たちが 見えないようになるためである 」．
- そこに イエス と 一緖にいたある パリサイ 人たちが， それを 聞いて イエス に 言った， 「それでは， わたしたちも 盲人なのでしょうか 」．

- Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.
|
- イエス は 彼らに 言われた， 「もしあなたがたが 盲人であったなら， 罪はなかったであろう． しかし， 今あなたがたが『見える 』と 言い 張るところに， あなたがたの 罪がある．
