- Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.
- As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.
- And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.
- So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.
- And when they were at Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: and they had also John to their minister.

- さて， アンテオケ にある 敎會には， バルナバ ， ニゲル と 呼ばれる シメオン ， クレネ 人 ルキオ ， 領主 ヘロデ の 乳兄弟 マナエン ， および サウロ などの 預言者や 敎師がいた．
- 一同が 主に 禮拜をささげ， 斷食をしていると， 聖靈が「さあ， バルナバ と サウロ とを， わたしのために 聖別して， 彼らに 授けておいた 仕事に 當らせなさい 」と 告げた．
- そこで 一同は， 斷食と 祈とをして， 手をふたりの 上においた 後， 出發させた．
- ふたりは 聖靈に 送り 出されて， セルキヤ にくだり， そこから 舟で クプロ に 渡った．
- そして サラミス に 着くと， ユダヤ 人の 諸會堂で 神の 言を 宣べはじめた． 彼らは ヨハネ を 助け 手として 連れていた．

- And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Barjesus:
- Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God.
- But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.
- Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him.
- And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?

- 島全體を 巡回して， パポス まで 行ったところ， そこで ユダヤ 人の 魔術師， バルイエス というにせ 預言者に 出會った．
- 彼は 地方總督 セルギオ · パウロ のところに 出入りをしていた． この 總督は 賢明な 人であって， バルナバ と サウロ とを 招いて， 神の 言を 聞こうとした．
- ところが 魔術師 エルマ （彼の 名は「魔術師 」との 意 ）は， 總督を 信仰からそらそうとして， しきりにふたりの 邪魔をした．
- サウロ ， またの 名は パウロ ， は 聖靈に 滿たされ， 彼をにらみつけて
- 言った， 「ああ， あらゆる 僞りと 邪惡とでかたまっている 惡魔の 子よ， すべて 正しいものの 敵よ． 主のまっすぐな 道を 曲げることを 止めないのか．

- And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand.
- Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.

- 見よ， 主のみ 手がおまえの 上に 及んでいる． おまえは 盲目になって， 當分， 日の 光が 見えなくなるのだ 」． たちまち， かすみとやみとが 彼にかかったため， 彼は 手さぐりしながら， 手を 引いてくれる 人を 搜しまわった．
- 總督はこの 出來事を 見て， 主の 敎にすっかり 驚き， そして 信じた．
