- And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:
- The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation.
- And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.
- And when her masters saw that the hope of their gains was gone, they caught Paul and Silas, and drew them into the marketplace unto the rulers,
- And brought them to the magistrates, saying, These men, being Jews, do exceedingly trouble our city,

- ある 時， わたしたちが， 祈り 場に 行く 途中， 占いの 靈につかれた 女奴隷に 出會った． 彼女は 占いをして， その 主人たちに 多くの 利益を 得させていた 者である．
- この 女が， パウロ やわたしたちのあとを 追ってきては， 「この 人たちは， いと 高き 神の 僕たちで， あなたがたに 救の 道を 傳えるかただ 」と， 叫び 出すのであった．
- そして， そんなことを 幾日間もつづけていた． パウロ は 困りはてて， その 靈にむかい「イエス · キリスト の 名によって 命じる． その 女から 出て 行け 」と 言った． すると， その 瞬間に 靈が 女から 出て 行った．
- 彼女の 主人たちは， 自分らの 利益を 得る 望みが 絶えたのを 見て， パウロ と シラス とを 捕え， 役人に 引き 渡すため 廣場に 引きずって 行った．
- それから， ふたりを 長官たちの 前に 引き 出して 訴えた， 「この 人たちは ユダヤ 人でありまして， わたしたちの 町をかき 亂し，

- And teach customs, which are not lawful for us to receive, neither to observe, being Romans.
- And the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent off their clothes, and commanded to beat them.
- And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely:
- Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.
- And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.

- わたしたち ロ ― マ 人が， 採用も 實行もしてはならない 風習を 宣傳しているのです 」．
- 群衆もいっせいに 立って， ふたりを 責めたてたので， 長官たちはふたりの 上着をはぎ 取り， むちで 打つことを 命じた．
- それで， ふたりに 何度もむちを 加えさせたのち， 獄に 入れ， 獄吏にしっかり 番をするようにと 命じた．
- 獄吏はこの 嚴命を 受けたので， ふたりを 奧の 獄屋に 入れ， その 足に 足かせをしっかりとかけておいた．
- 眞夜中ごろ， パウロ と シラス とは， 神に 祈り， さんびを 歌いつづけたが， 囚人たちは 耳をすまして 聞きいっていた．

- And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed.
- And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled.
- But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here.
- Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas,
- And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

- ところが 突然， 大地震が 起って， 獄の 土台が ¿れ 動き， 戶は 全部たちまち 開いて， みんなの 者の 鎖が 解けてしまった．
- 獄吏は 目をさまし， 獄の 戶が 開いてしまっているのを 見て， 囚人たちが 逃げ 出したものと 思い， つるぎを 拔いて 自殺しかけた．
- そこで パウロ は 大聲をあげて 言った， 「自害してはいけない． われわれは 皆ひとり 殘らず， ここにいる 」．
- すると， 獄吏は， あかりを 手に 入れた 上， 獄に 驅け ¿んできて， おののきながら パウロ と シラス の 前にひれ 伏した．
- それから， ふたりを 外に 連れ 出して 言った， 「先生がた， わたしは 救われるために， 何をすべきでしょうか 」．

- And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
- And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house.
- And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.
- And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.
- And when it was day, the magistrates sent the serjeants, saying, Let those men go.

- ふたりが 言った， 「主 イエス を 信じなさい． そうしたら， あなたもあなたの 家族も 救われます 」．
- それから， 彼とその 家族一同とに， 神の 言を 語って 聞かせた．
- 彼は 眞夜中にもかかわらず， ふたりを 引き 取って， その 打ち 傷を 洗ってやった． そして， その 場で 自分も 家族も， ひとり 殘らず バプテスマ を 受け，
- さらに， ふたりを 自分の 家に 案內して 食事のもてなしをし， 神を 信じる 者となったことを， 全家族と 共に 心から 喜んだ．
- 夜が 明けると， 長官たちは 警吏らをつかわして， 「あの 人たちを 釋放せよ 」と 言わせた．

- And the keeper of the prison told this saying to Paul, The magistrates have sent to let you go: now therefore depart, and go in peace.
- But Paul said unto them, They have beaten us openly uncondemned, being Romans, and have cast us into prison; and now do they thrust us out privily? nay verily; but let them come themselves and fetch us out.
- And the serjeants told these words unto the magistrates: and they feared, when they heard that they were Romans.
- And they came and besought them, and brought them out, and desired them to depart out of the city.
- And they went out of the prison, and entered into the house of Lydia: and when they had seen the brethren, they comforted them, and departed.

- そこで， 獄吏はこの 言葉を パウロ に 傳えて 言った， 「長官たちが， あなたがたを 釋放させるようにと， 使をよこしました． さあ， 出てきて， 無事にお 歸りなさい 」．
- ところが， パウロ は 警吏らに 言った， 「彼らは， ロ ― マ 人であるわれわれを， 裁判にかけもせずに， 公衆の 前でむち 打ったあげく， 獄に 入れてしまった． しかるに 今になって， ひそかに， われわれを 出そうとするのか． それは， いけない． 彼ら 自身がここにきて， われわれを 連れ 出すべきである 」．
- 警吏らはこの 言葉を 長官たちに 報告した． すると 長官たちは， ふたりが ロ ― マ 人だと 聞いて 恐れ，
- 自分でやってきてわびた 上， ふたりを 獄から 連れ 出し， 町から 立ち 去るようにと 賴んだ．
- ふたりは 獄を 出て， ルデヤ の 家に 行った． そして， 兄弟たちに 會って 勸めをなし， それから 出かけた．
