- This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.
- I told you before, and foretell you, as if I were present, the second time; and being absent now I write to them which heretofore have sinned, and to all other, that, if I come again, I will not spare:
- Since ye seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, which to you-ward is not weak, but is mighty in you.
- For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you.
- Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

- わたしは 今， 三度目にあなたがたの 所に 行こうとしている． すべての 事がらは， ふたりか 三人の 證人の 證言によって 確定する．
- わたしは， 前に 罪を 犯した 者たちやその 他のすべての 人¿に， 二度目に 滯在していたとき 警告しておいたが， 離れている 今またあらかじめ 言っておく． 今度行った 時には， 決して 容赦はしない．
- なぜなら， あなたがたが， キリスト のわたしにあって 語っておられるという 證據を 求めているからである． キリスト は， あなたがたに 對して 弱くはなく， あなたがたのうちにあって 强い．
- すなわち， キリスト は 弱さのゆえに 十字架につけられたが， 神の 力によって 生きておられるのである． このように， わたしたちも キリスト にあって 弱い 者であるが， あなたがたに 對しては， 神の 力によって， キリスト と 共に 生きるのである．
- あなたがたは， はたして 信仰があるかどうか， 自分を 反省し， 自分を 吟味するがよい． それとも， イエス · キリスト があなたがたのうちにおられることを， 悟らないのか． もし 悟らなければ， あなたがたは， にせものとして 見捨てられる．

- But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates.
- Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.
- For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.
- For we are glad, when we are weak, and ye are strong: and this also we wish, even your perfection.
- Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord hath given me to edification, and not to destruction.

- しかしわたしは， 自分たちが 見捨てられた 者ではないことを， 知っていてもらいたい．
- わたしたちは， あなたがたがどんな 惡をも 行わないようにと， 神に 祈る． それは， 自分たちがほんとうの 者であることを 見せるためではなく， たといわたしたちが 見捨てられた 者のようになっても， あなたがたに 良い 行いをしてもらいたいためである．
- わたしたちは， 眞理に 逆らっては 何をする 力もなく， 眞理にしたがえば 力がある．
- わたしたちは， 自分は 弱くても， あなたがたが 强ければ， それを 喜ぶ． わたしたちが 特に 祈るのは， あなたがたが 完全に 良くなってくれることである．
- こういうわけで， 離れていて 以上のようなことを 書いたのは， わたしがあなたがたの 所に 行ったとき， 倒すためではなく 高めるために 主が 授けて 下さった 權威を 用いて， きびしい 處置をする 必要がないようにしたいためである．

- Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.
- Greet one another with an holy kiss.
- All the saints salute you.

- 最後に， 兄弟たちよ． いつも 喜びなさい． 全き 者となりなさい． 互に 勵まし 合いなさい． 思いを 一つにしなさい． 平和に 過ごしなさい． そうすれば， 愛と 平和の 神があなたがたと 共にいて 下さるであろう．
- きよい 接吻をもって 互にあいさつをかわしなさい． 聖徒たち 一同が， あなたがたによろしく．
- 主 イエス · キリスト の 惠みと， 神の 愛と， 聖靈の 交わりとが， あなたがた 一同と 共にあるように．
