- Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:
- She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,
- How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?
- Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.
- Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;

- 知惠は， ちまたに 呼ばわり， 市場にその 聲をあげ，
- 城壁の 頂で 叫び， 町の 門の 入口で 語る．
- 「思慮のない 者たちよ， あなたがたは， いつまで ／思慮のないことを 好むのか． あざける 者は， いつまで， あざけり 樂しみ， 愚かな 者は， いつまで， 知識を 憎むのか．
- わたしの 戒めに 心をとめよ， 見よ， わたしは 自分の 思いを， あなたがたに 告げ， わたしの 言葉を， あなたがたに 知らせる．
- わたしは 呼んだが， あなたがたは 聞くことを 拒み， 手を 伸べたが， 顧みる 者はなく，

- But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:
- I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;
- When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.
- Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:
- For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:

- かえって， あなたがたはわたしのすべての 勸めを 捨て， わたしの 戒めを 受けなかったので，
- わたしもまた， あなたがたが 災にあう 時に， 笑い， あなたがたが 恐慌にあう 時， あざけるであろう．
- これは 恐慌が， あらしのようにあなたがたに 臨み， 災が， つむじ 風のように 臨み， 惱みと 悲しみとが， あなたがたに 臨む 時である．
- その 時， 彼らはわたしを 呼ぶであろう， しかし， わたしは 答えない． ひたすら， わたしを 求めるであろう， しかし， わたしに 會えない．
- 彼らは 知識を 憎み， 主を 恐れることを 選ばず，

- They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.
- Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.
- For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.
- But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

- わたしの 勸めに 從わず， すべての 戒めを 輕んじたゆえ，
- 自分の 行いの 實を 食らい， 自分の 計りごとに 飽きる．
- 思慮のない 者の 不從順はおのれを 殺し， 愚かな 者の 安樂はおのれを 滅ぼす．
- しかし， わたしに 聞き 從う 者は 安らかに 住まい， 災に 會う 恐れもなく， 安全である 」．
