- My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
- So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
- Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
- If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
- Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

- わが 子よ， もしあなたが ／わたしの 言葉を 受け， わたしの 戒めを， あなたの 心におさめ，
- あなたの 耳を 知惠に 傾け， あなたの 心を 悟りに 向け，
- しかも， もし 知識を 呼び 求め， 悟りを 得ようと， あなたの 聲をあげ，
- 銀を 求めるように， これを 求め， かくれた 寶を 尋ねるように， これを 尋ねるならば，
- あなたは， 主を 恐れることを 悟り， 神を 知ることができるようになる．

- For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
- He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.
- He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.
- Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.
- When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;

- これは， 主が 知惠を 與え， 知識と 悟りとは， み 口から 出るからである．
- 彼は 正しい 人のために， 確かな 知惠をたくわえ， 誠實に 步む 者の 盾となって，
- 公正の 道を 保ち， その 聖徒たちの 道筋を 守られる．
- そのとき， あなたは， ついに 正義と 公正， 公平とすべての 良い 道を 悟る．
- これは 知惠が， あなたの 心にはいり， 知識があなたの 魂に 樂しみとなるからである．

- Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:
- To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;

- 愼みはあなたを 守り， 悟りはあなたを 保って，
- 惡の 道からあなたを 救い， 僞りをいう 者から 救う．
