- Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope;
- Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.
- As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,
- Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.
- Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:

- わたしたちの 救主なる 神と， わたしたちの 望みである キリスト · イエス との 任命による キリスト · イエス の 使徒 パウロ から，
- 信仰によるわたしの 眞實な 子 テモテ へ． 父なる 神とわたしたちの 主 キリスト · イエス から， 惠みとあわれみと 平安とが， あなたにあるように．
- わたしが マケドニヤ に 向かって 出發する 際， 賴んでおいたように， あなたは エペソ にとどまっていて， ある 人¿に， 違った 敎を 說くことをせず，
- 作り 話やはてしのない 系圖などに 氣をとられることもないように， 命じなさい． そのようなことは 信仰による 神の 務を 果すものではなく， むしろ 論議を 引き 起させるだけのものである．
- わたしのこの 命令は， 淸い 心と 正しい 良心と 僞りのない 信仰とから 出てくる 愛を 目標としている．

- From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;
- Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.
- But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;
- Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
- For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;

- ある 人¿はこれらのものからそれて 空論に 走り，
- 律法の 敎師たることを 志していながら， 自分の 言っていることも 主張していることも， わからないでいる．
- わたしたちが 知っているとおり， 律法なるものは， 法に 從って 用いるなら， 良いものである．
- すなわち， 律法は 正しい 人のために 定められたのではなく， 不法な 者と 法に 服さない 者， 不信心な 者と 罪ある 者， 神聖を 汚す 者と 俗惡な 者， 父を 殺す 者と 母を 殺す 者， 人を 殺す 者，
- 不品行な 者， 男色をする 者， 誘かいする 者， 僞る 者， 僞り 誓う 者， そのほか 健全な 敎にもとることがあれば， そのために 定められていることを 認むべきである．

- According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.
- And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;
- Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.
- And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
- This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

- これは， 祝福に 滿ちた 神の 榮光の 福音が 示すところであって， わたしはこの 福音をゆだねられているのである．
- わたしは， 自分を 强くして 下さったわたしたちの 主 キリスト · イエス に 感謝する． 主はわたしを 忠實な 者と 見て， この 務に 任じて 下さったのである．
- わたしは 以前には， 神をそしる 者， 迫害する 者， 不遜な 者であった． しかしわたしは， これらの 事を， 信仰がなかったとき， 無知なためにしたのだから， あわれみをこうむったのである．
- その 上， わたしたちの 主の 惠みが， キリスト · イエス にある 信仰と 愛とに 伴い， ますます 增し 加わってきた．
- 「キリスト · イエス は， 罪人を 救うためにこの 世にきて 下さった 」という 言葉は， 確實で， そのまま 受けいれるに 足るものである． わたしは， その 罪人のかしらなのである．

- Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.
- Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
- This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;
- Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:
- Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.

- しかし， わたしがあわれみをこうむったのは， キリスト · イエス が， まずわたしに 對して 限りない 寬容を 示し， そして， わたしが 今後， 彼を 信じて 永遠のいのちを 受ける 者の 模範となるためである．
- 世¿の 支配者， 不朽にして 見えざる 唯一の 神に， 世¿限りなく， ほまれと 榮光とがあるように， アァメン ．
- わたしの 子 テモテ よ． 以前あなたに 對してなされた 數¿の 預言の 言葉に 從って， この 命令を 與える． あなたは， これらの 言葉に 勵まされて， 信仰と 正しい 良心とを 保ちながら， りっぱに 戰いぬきなさい．
- ある 人¿は， 正しい 良心を 捨てたため， 信仰の 破船に 會った．
- その 中に， ヒメナオ と アレキサンデル とがいる． わたしは， 神を 汚さないことを 學ばせるため， このふたりを サタン の 手に 渡したのである．
