- Rebuke not an elder, but intreat him as a father; and the younger men as brethren;
- The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity.
- Honour widows that are widows indeed.
- But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to shew piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God.
- Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day.

- 老人をとがめてはいけない． むしろ 父親に 對するように， 話してあげなさい． 若い 男には 兄弟に 對するように，
- 年とった 女には 母親に 對するように， 若い 女には， 眞に 純潔な 思いをもって， 姉妹に 對するように， 勸告しなさい．
- やもめについては， 眞にたよりのないやもめたちを， よくしてあげなさい．
- やもめに 子か 孫かがある 場合には， これらの 者に， まず 自分の 家で 孝養をつくし， 親の 恩に 報いることを 學ばせるべきである． それが， 神のみこころにかなうことなのである．
- 眞にたよりのない， ひとり 暮しのやもめは， 望みを 神において， 日夜， たえず 願いと 祈とに 專心するが，

- But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.
- And these things give in charge, that they may be blameless.
- But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
- Let not a widow be taken into the number under threescore years old, having been the wife of one man.
- Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints' feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.

- これに 反して， みだらな 生活をしているやもめは， 生けるしかばねにすぎない．
- これらのことを 命じて， 彼女たちを 非難のない 者としなさい．
- もしある 人が， その 親族を， ことに 自分の 家族をかえりみない 場合には， その 信仰を 捨てたことになるのであって， 不信者以上にわるい．
- やもめとして 登錄さるべき 者は， 六十歲以下のものではなくて， ひとりの 夫の 妻であった 者，
- また 子女をよく 養育し， 旅人をもてなし， 聖徒の 足を 洗い， 困っている 人を 助け， 種¿の 善行に 努めるなど， そのよいわざでひろく 認められている 者でなければならない．

- But the younger widows refuse: for when they have begun to wax wanton against Christ, they will marry;
- Having damnation, because they have cast off their first faith.
- And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.
- I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.
- For some are already turned aside after Satan.

- 若いやもめは 除外すべきである． 彼女たちが キリスト にそむいて 氣ままになると， 結婚をしたがるようになり，
- 初めの 誓いを 無視したという 非難を 受けねばならないからである．
- その 上， 彼女たちはなまけていて， 家¿を 遊び 步くことをおぼえ， なまけるばかりか， むだごとをしゃべって， いたずらに 動きまわり， 口にしてはならないことを 言う．
- そういうわけだから， 若いやもめは 結婚して 子を 産み， 家をおさめ， そして， 反對者にそしられるすきを 作らないようにしてほしい．
- 彼女たちのうちには， サタン のあとを 追って 道を 踏みはずした 者もある．

- If any man or woman that believeth have widows, let them relieve them, and let not the church be charged; that it may relieve them that are widows indeed.
- Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.
- For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.
- Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses.
- Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.

- 女の 信者が 家にやもめを 持っている 場合には， 自分でそのやもめの 世話をしてあげなさい． 敎會のやっかいになってはいけない． 敎會は， 眞にたよりのないやもめの 世話をしなければならない．
- よい 指導をしている 長老， 特に 宣敎と 敎とのために 勞している 長老は， 二倍の 尊敬を 受けるにふさわしい 者である．
- 聖書は， 「穀物をこなしている 牛に， くつこをかけてはならない 」また「¿き 人がその 報酬を 受けるのは 當然である 」と 言っている．
- 長老に 對する 訴訟は， ふたりか 三人の 證人がない 場合には， 受理してはならない．
- 罪を 犯した 者に 對しては， ほかの 人¿も 恐れをいだくに 至るために， すべての 人の 前でその 罪をとがむべきである．

- I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.
- Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep thyself pure.
- Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.
- Some men's sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some men they follow after.
- Likewise also the good works of some are manifest beforehand; and they that are otherwise cannot be hid.

- わたしは， 神と キリスト · イエス と 選ばれた 御使たちとの 前で， おごそかにあなたに 命じる． これらのことを 偏見なしに 守り， 何事についても， 不公平な 仕方をしてはならない．
- 輕¿しく 人に 手をおいてはならない． また， ほかの 人の 罪に 加わってはいけない． 自分をきよく 守りなさい．
- （これからは， 水ばかりを 飮まないで， 胃のため， また， たびたびのいたみを 和らげるために， 少量のぶどう 酒を 用いなさい． ）
- ある 人の 罪は 明白であって， すぐ 裁判にかけられるが， ほかの 人の 罪は， あとになってわかって 來る．
- それと 同じく， 良いわざもすぐ 明らかになり， そうならない 場合でも， 隱れていることはあり 得ない．
