- A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing.
- For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,
- To call passengers who go right on their ways:
- Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,
- Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.

- 愚かな 女は， ¿がしく， みだらで， 恥を 知らない．
- 彼女はその 家の 戶口に 座し， 町の 高い 所にある 座にすわり，
- 道を 急ぐ 行き 來の 人を 招いて 言う，
- 「思慮のない 者よ， ここに 來れ 」と． また 知惠のない 人に 向かってこれに 言う，
- 「盜んだ 水は 甘く， ひそかに 食べる パン はうまい 」と．
